Scaramouche
I leaned on a pillar across her as I watched her sleep. She seemed exhausted as she frowned even in her sleep. I sighed and turned my attention to the rain that pitter-pattered onto the grass outside. My mind was filled with worry as I wondered what this meant for us. She refused to say anything and simply sobbed before she managed to fall asleep. She probably thought I was a monster. I was the reason her life had turned out like that. Haruhi was fast asleep and her robes were slightly dangling over the stairs. The pouring rain was casting a spray of cold water onto her face and was drenching the flowing fabric. I sighed quietly as I knew what I was about to do. I quickly moved over to her side, gently taking the edge of her robes that were getting wet and pulled them back, trying to keep her dry. I looked at her face and noticed the peaceful expression on her face despite knowing her mind was far from peaceful. I carefully moved her away from the edge of the stairs so she was under the shrine's roof more.
I heard some creaking sound from outside the shrine although it was faint due to the loud storm outside. My ears pricked up as I waited for another sound. And there it was, footsteps. I frowned as I listened to the soft footsteps on the damp mud outside. I got up and leaned out slightly, trying to get a better look, but it was difficult to see anything in the dark and heavy rain. I tensed up, my senses on high alert.
My gaze drifted over to Haruhi's sleeping figure and I felt a small pang of worry. I turned back to the open wall of the shrine and looked outside. I could feel someone's gaze on me, it was like someone was watching me. I kept my eyes fixed on the darkness outside and moved my hand subtly to my catalyst, ready for anything. My eyes caught a shadow moving in the rain, my suspicions growing. I stepped slightly in front of Haruhi, my stance protective. I saw the shadowy figure move further away into the dark night. It was as if it was trying to lure me out. I kept my guard up as I decided to go out and investigate.
The moment I set foot outside the shrine, a blue flash of light sliced through the air near my face, almost nicking my cheek as I dodged just in time. I recognized the blade before I recognized the shadow as he emerged from the dark, the hydro energy from his blade casting an eerie glow onto his face. It was Childe, his ginger hair drenched in the rain.
"Childe," I sneered, my voice cold and icy.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"Hey now, aren't you happy to see me? It has been way too long since we last spared don't you think?" Childe spoke with his iconic grin as he got into a ready stance, gripping his blades tighter.
"You shouldn't have come looking for me." I said gruffly, my hand keeping my catalyst by my side.
"What do you want Childe?"
"I want the gnosis you ran off with of course." Childe smirked. Of course I knew that was why he was there.
"The Jester is not very happy about this you know." He snickered, adding onto my annoyance.
I smirked back, a cocky insolent grin on my face.
"You won't be getting your hands on it that easily. Remember? I always win when we spar." My expression darkened as I retorted, my voice laced with mocking arrogance.
"Oh I know, but I do enjoy a good fight." Childe chuckled in excitement as he gripped his blades tighter before swinging the blades at me.
I quickly darted to the side, dodging the hydro blades that Childe swung at me with swift agility. I gritted my teeth, my eyes narrowing in concentration as I moved.
"You really think you can defeat me, Childe?" I sneered, my tone mocking.
"You're too reckless, too predictable."
