Mary’s P.O.V.

“Geronimo!” Binky yelled as he cannon-balled into the water beside me.

“Watch it!” I warned him as he resurfaced.

            “Sorry love.” He smiled.

We decided to take the day off today because everyone was still moping around over Libby leaving and Nib’s being Mr. Grumpy 24/7. So, what better thing to do than swim? And I didn’t tell Binky this, but I am going to introduce him to my mom today.  We had already seen a few of the other mermaids but my mom was to come in a few minutes.

“You look like you’re stressed.” Binky said to me.

“Nope! Not me!” I said quickly.

            “Are you sure?” He asked.

            “Positive!” I smiled.

“You know she’s lying.” A familiar voice said from behind me. I turned around quickly and flung my arms around my mother.

“Hi honey.” She sighed happily as she hugged me.

            “Hi mommy!” I replied happily.

“Mommy, this is Binky, my boyfriend.” I introduced him. He smiled one of his dazzling smiles and shook her hand.

“I can see where Mary gets her good looks.” He said.

“Well you are quite the charmer!” She exclaimed.

            “Thank you mam!” He blushed.

“Oh he’s a keeper.” She told me with a laugh.

“Trust me, I know.” I said.

We spent a majority of the afternoon with my mom and then she invited us to dinner with the rest of the clan. Even though I told Binky that mermaids are vegetarians (I break this when I’m not at home) he still accepted her offer.

I knew most of the mermaids had already met Binky so I wasn’t too worried about them. It was the mermen I was worried about. They tend to joke a lot and pull mean pranks on any newcomers. I’d beat their asses of course if they try to pull anything on him and I know he could handle it if they did, but still…

            ……………………………………………………………………………………………

We arrived approximately at six o’clock and the girls were already buzzing about. They all knew of Binky and of Marmaduke too. I guess they were hoping to get on his good side so that he might mention one of them to Marmaduke. Binky doesn’t really catch on to that though.

The mermaids and mermen were getting dried off so their legs started to show. Binky went off with some of the men into the woods. I tried to keep an eye on him but he insisted on going with them. It wasn’t long before I heard a shout of alarm. I ran over as fast as I could to where the sound came from.  I couldn’t help but laugh when I got there.

“So this is what being trapped is like!” Binky said as he swung upside down from his ankles on a tree and the mermen squirted water on him. I rolled my eyes.

“Guys, cut him down!” I yelled and they finally obeyed.

“Is this some sort of initiation?” Binky asked, rubbing his ankles.

“No. Initiation is much worse!” One of the mermen shouted out.

“No more pranks on Binky for tonight!” I told them sternly. They mumbled in agreement that they wouldn’t try anything more.

Dinner was served fairly soon after that and it went by smoothly. Binky minded his manners and behaved like a complete gentleman. After dinner we said our goodbyes and my mother pulled Binky aside to talk with him for a little while. I waited around with some of the mermaids even though they were getting more and more annoying on insisting that I tell Marmaduke about them. Finally, after about fifteen minutes, Binky and my mother parted ways. My mom gave me a quick kiss on the forehead before wishing me well, telling me she loves me and insisting that I come visit soon.

Binky and I walked through the woods hand in hand and just talked about life with my family/clan. He asked a lot of questions about me as a kid and about my mom. At this point he knew to stay away from the subject of my father. We even talked about him a little bit too, but I usually like to do the talking. Listening is not one of my best skills after all.

We finally got back to the hideout and said our goodnights to everyone but we decided to have a little fun before actually going to bed. If you know what I mean *wink wink nudge nudge*.

I know it sounds really cheesy and cliché, and if it were any of the other girls I would probably call them stupid or naïve, but I really do think Binky is the one.

            Marmaduke’s P.O.V.

“Camo?” I called as I knocked on her door.

            “What’s up?” She answered.

“I was wondering if I could talk to you…” I trailed off.

“Yeah, of course, come right in.” She said as she opened the door then closed it behind me.

“I know how good you are at keeping secrets and there is something that I need to get off of my chest.” I started. She just sat on the end of her bed and gave me a nod.

            “Go on.” She told me.

            “I’m bi.” I said quickly.

I expected her to at least look shocked but all I got was a normal Camo expression.

“Am I the only one who knows?” She asked.

“Yeah.” I said looking down at my feet.

“Well alright then. Thank you for trusting me.” She smiled. “How long have you known?”

            “About three years.” I recalled.

“Have you had a boyfriend? I know you’ve had a few girlfriends.” She asked.

“Just one, but we couldn’t exactly come out. I know Binky would flip.” I said sadly.

“I know he will be fine with it. It’s not like it changes who you are. You’re still you.” She said grabbing my hand.

“That’s exactly what I needed to hear.” I chuckled. Camo always knows how to make me feel better. She knows exactly how to take care of everyone. I’m just happy Peter is helping take care of her.
