Francis says to Bret "Mr. Weston Wallis,you have been challenged to a duel by Mr. Jones,who has invoked arcane Stonewall Prep tradition.Do you accept?"
Bret says to Francis "That'd be a yes."
Francis says to Bret "Very good."
Bret says to Francis "What about fencing?"
Jughead says to Francis "Oh, can we just bare-knuckle brawl?"
Francis says to Jughead and Bret "May I suggest that you do both? And in case of a tiebreaker..."
Joan says to Francis "A battle of intellect."
Donna says to Francis "A chess match."
Francis says to Donna "Excellent."
Francis says to Jughead and Bret "Then it is settled.You may both now choose a second
for moral and tactical support."
Bret says to everyone "I pick Jonathan."
Jonathan nods his head
Jughead says to everyone "I'll choose Donna."
Francis says to Jughead and Bret "And may the best man win."
Francis walks off
Donna walks over to Jughead
Donna says to Jughead "I'm assuming you've
never held a saber before.Lucky for you, I'm an excellent coach,and Bret is decidedly mediocre with a sword."
In the office
Frank says to Archie "Hey, by the way, I meant to ask you,when does your mom get back?"
Archie closes the door
Archie says to Frank "She's wrapping up a case.A couple more days, she says."
Frank says to Archie "Gotcha."
Ted OPENS the door
Ted walks in
Ted closes the door
Archie says to Ted "Hey, can we help you?"
Ted SNIFFS
Frank says to himself "Holy hell."
Frank says to Ted "Ted Bishop."
Ted says to Frank "How are you, Frank?"
Ted and Frank hugs
Frank says to Ted "Hey. What the hell are you doing here?"
Ted says to Frank "It's, uh... It's bad news. I'm making the rounds. I wanted to tell you guys in person. Greg died."
Ted SIGHS
Ted says to Frank "Yeah, he had cancer."
Frank EXCLAIMS
Ted says to Frank "Rotted his guts."
Frank says to Ted "After everything else..."
Ted says to Frank "Hmm."
Frank says to Ted "I'm sorry. Uh..."
Frank says to Archie "Archie, this is Ted Bishop. We served together."
Frank says to Ted "Ted, this is my nephew, Archie."
Ted says to Frank "Oh."
Archie says to Ted "Hey."
Archie shakes Ted's hand
Ted CHUCKLES
Ted says to Archie "Fred's kid. Nice to meet you."
Archie says to Ted "Same. We were just calling
it quits for the day,if you wanna join us for dinner?"
Frank says to Ted Yeah. How about it, Ted?"
Ted says to Frank and Archie "Yeah, all right."
In Pembroke,dining room /Living Room
Veronica walks in
Hermione SIGHS
Veronica says to Hiram and Hermione "FYI,
Smithers and I are road-tripping to New York tomorrow."
Hermione says to Veronica "Oh,what's the occasion?"
Veronica says to Hermione "I have an interview at Barnard College, if you must know.And, of course, I'll be going on a shopping spree beforehand to find the right outfit to impress."
Hiram says to Veronica "Well, that's perfect timing. Your mother and I were just planning
our own trip to New York."
Veronica says to Hiram "Seriously?"
Hiram says to Veronica "Yeah.I have a few business meetings I've been putting off."
Hermione says to Veronica "And I'm having lunch with the girls at Cafe des Creatifs."
Hiram says to Veronica "And don't worry, mija,as soon as we reach Manhattan,we'll go our separate ways."
Veronica says to Hiram and Hermione "Fine.But New York...is my town.Not yours."
Veronica walks off

School bell RINGING
Toni walks over to Fangs
Toni says to Fangs "Fangs, tell me you're not selling drugs again."
Fangs says to Toni "Toni...so Kevin and I started this little...side hustle.And don't worry. It's
nothing illegal, per se."
Toni says to Fangs "What kind of side hustle? It looks lucrative as hell. Is this something I can get in on?"
Fangs nods his head
Betty is sitting outside of the principals office
Alice walks out
Alice says to Betty "The nerve of that man! Who does he think he is?"
Betty says to Alice "What happened, Mom? What did Mr. Honey say?"
Alice says to Betty "Your principal refuses to
believe that I acted alone."
Alice puts her coat on
Betty says to Alice "That's typical.What's the punishment?"
Alice says to Betty "Well, honey, you're suspended for a week and stripped of your editor-in-chief duties at the Blue and Gold."
Betty says to Alice "Oh, my God."
Alice says to Betty "And barred from attending senior prom for some ungodly reason."
Betty stands up
Alice says to Betty "Oh, and that Bret Weston Wallis character? He's filing a restraining order against you,claiming that he "fears for his life."
Betty says to Alice "What, Bret is afraid of me? Why?"
Alice SIGHS
Alice says to Betty "Apparently, you cracked
open his head with a golf club."
Betty says to Alice "Oh, right. I did do that."
In the Blue & Gold newspaper room
Alice says to Betty "What's this?"
Betty says to Alice "My latest murder board."
ALICE says to Betty "Who got murdered?"
Betty says to Alice "Mr. Chipping. Maybe.We let the case get cold,but we know Bret's a total sociopath. So let's find out if he's a killer too."
Betty looks at Alice then looks back at the Murder board
In the Andrews house,dining room
Ted says to Archie "So there was an ambush near the city centre,and they sent us in
to extract any wounded.I end up walking down a blind alley. I get hit in both legs, and I go down.
But he got me out of there."
Frank nods his head
Ted says to Archie "It wasn't till we got back to
the aid station,I saw that Frank,he'd been hit four times himself."
Ted says to Frank "But, hey,you got a Red Badge of Courage for saving my ass, right?"
Ted drinking beer
Frank says to Ted "I got lucky,that's all."
Ted nods his head
Ted says to Archie and Frank "Well, boys, uh,I appreciate the warm meal and hospitality,but it's time I ship out."
Ted stands up
Archie stands up
Archie says to Ted "You could stay here,if you want, Mr. Bishop."
Frank stands up
Archie says to Ted "My mom's out of town,there's plenty of room."
Ted says to Archie "Well, so long as I'm not putting anyone out."
Archie says to Ted "No, you're not."
In the Coopers house,living room
ALICE says to Betty "My, what a tangled web. And you think this Bret character is behind it all?"
Betty says to Alice He's definitely the leader of the pack."
Alice says to Betty "Okay. Well, where do we begin? We have missing students, evil preppies,
dead writers, a teacher's suicide..."
Betty says to Alice "Apparent suicide. Chipping
didn't leave a note. And even though Jughead's classmate Donna has painted a very incriminating portrait of him...I don't think she's telling the truth."
Betty looks at Alice
Alice says to Betty "Well, then that's where we start. Tell me, Elizabeth,is there a Mrs. Chipping?"
In the Andrews house,kitchen
Archie walks in the kitchen very fast
Ted says to Archie "Hey, where's the fire?"
Archie says to Ted "Sorry,I'm gonna be late for school.Ted, don't be a stranger.Hope to see you again soon."
Ted says to Archie "Yeah, same here."
Frank says to Archie "See you."
Archie walks out
Frank says to Archie "He's a good kid.He is. He's just like his father was.All right, listen, why
don't you finish up,and then I'll drive you to the bus station?"
Ted says to Archie "Sounds good."
