Maybe they're not here for me. Maybe they're here for Emily.

"Guys," Emily says loud enough so the entire class could hear her egotistic voice, "I thought I told my dad not to send you guys. You don't have to worry about me, I'm safe-"

"We are not here for you Emily," one soldier with a black badge on interrupts Emily. I can tell he is not fond of her either.

Maybe they just want to warn us about Shadows.

"Where is she?" the man with badges asks Mr. Payne, who whispers something in his ear. The soldier nods and then looks up at me.

Okay, they may be here for me. My stomach drops as they walk forward to my desk and stand there looking at me. I instinctively feel for Hugo's hand but when I feel for it, it's gone. I glance out of the corner of my eye at Hugo's seat but he's disappeared. I look back up at the soldier and he looks back at me with wide, scared eyes. So is Mr. Payne.

"See what I mean?" Mr. Payne asks the surprised soldier. The soldier nods and nods his head towards me signaling the four other soldiers to walk around the line of tables and suddenly grab me with tight grips. A rush of adrenaline and fear flow through me. I flash open my wings, hitting their hands off of me and sending them to the floor. The soldiers gasp at the sight of my wings from the floor. I decide to take the time and try to fly over their heads and head out the door. But suddenly, I can't move. I am simply frozen in the air.

"Now you need to come with us peacefully," the black badge soldier demands, trying to hide his amazement, as a nearby soldier has his hands by his head in focus, "or we could just do it the hard way."

I slowly begin to gain movement in my bones and muscles and I stand back on the ground. I want to run. I want to hide. I want to be with friends. The soldiers grab my arms and wings and drag me to the door. I look back at Nathan with tears in my eyes. He holds up his thumb and pinky-finger and pushes his thumb into his chest. I know what it means.

I am pushed out into the hall where a few people are staring. I try to find a voice to ask why I am being taken out of class and to where. A tear slides down my soft cheek. I can't believe this is happening. I naturally hear my father's advice to remain focused and alert in potentially dangerous situations. Focus, Alice, don't let them under your skin. Focus. I look around to where we are going and see a young and stunning man in a suit with a purple tie standing in the parking lot with around seven to ten soldiers around him. I stay alert and looking in every direction at once. Once we reach the man in the purple tie he talks to the soldier in the black badge.

"But she's just a child," the purple tie guy states to the soldier.

"There are things about her that you will not believe and we need to do something about it," the soldier demands, grabbing the man's arm. The man in the purple tie rolls his eyes and looks into mine. I am so scared that I begin to shake. The man extends his hand with a sigh and looks deeper into my eyes. I open my mouth to speak but no words come out. I don't want to touch him. I glance at the soldier with the black badge and he's studying me with angry eyes. I take a breath and convince myself to take the offered hand and he holds mine tightly. He has big hands compared to mine. Every soldier touches a part of the man's shoulder and arm. The man's eyes still stare into mine and I look back, full of worry. His eyes, I now notice are as purple as his tie.

'Sorry,' he mouths to me. I'm not sure what he means by that. He hasn't done anything yet. Perhaps it's what he's about to do. He closes his eyes and suddenly, a bright light fills my eyes, and my stomach drops. I pull the purple tie guy's hand closer to me and my hair flies backward. I close my eyes and hope for the best. And just as soon as it began, the dropping feeling in my stomach stops, and my hair falls back to my shoulders. I feel a tap on my shoulder and open my eyes. I look around and see that the bright light is gone and instead, I realize I am in a large garden.

"Can I have my hand back?" the man with the purple tie asks me. I let go quickly in embarrassment and look around in awe at all the amazingly large flowers and the greenest green grass I have ever seen in my life. I notice that there are rainbow rays everywhere. I turn and look up at the sky to notice that there is a glass dome between the sun and I, cascading beautiful rainbows all over the place.

Soldiers grab me once again and I really want to fight back but the glare I receive from the soldier with the black badge convinces me I to stay peaceful.

I am dragged past a tall waterfall with rock circles shooting water into the air only to land in a big pool of bright blue water to repeat the cycle once more. There are people playing with the water and making it float in the air. There are small children running around and splashing each other by using their secrets of manipulating water. Once they look at me and my spread wings, they gasp and run away. There are people with very expensive dresses and suits all walking around and enjoying their secrets. A girl with a robe that has a hood draped over her head is walking around, suddenly looking up and telling a wanderer their future. I have never seen a psychic secret before. They are the most interesting secret I have learned about and from what I'm seeing, they are even more mysterious than I have imagined. I've never have seen a psychic secret because every psychic secret is always relocated to the elite court. So, that means...

"Welcome to the elite court," the man in the purple tie announces to me. No way. This is crazy! That must mean the purple tie guy has a teleport secret. I glance up at his face in awe and want to speak yet again I find no words. We continue walking and soon reach the famous square. It's like a dance floor but outside and with people who are not dancing but walking around and meeting other people. On the outline of the square, there are people like me from small towns selling food, clothes, and art. They all have stands with a shade roof because it is very sunny and is getting quite warm. We walk at a fast pace over the overly shiny gold floor. I feel like it's too clean to walk on, so I have a hard time stepping on the gold surface. The soldiers have to drag me through the square where I receive many un-approved glances and many kids run away from me once they see me. I try not to let it affect me too much. I simply focus on my breathing. Focus.

We continue walking past the square and towards the center of the elite court, the three elite houses. I look at the giant white walls that stretch into the sky with long windows spread across them. There is a bridge with a large river underneath it and the world becomes increasingly more hectic as we cross the bridge. My steps on the wood are loud but I am too amazed by the world around me to try and silence them. As we walk throughout the area near the bridge, there are many stares and glares and more kids run away from me. Every girl has an elegant dress on, even the little babies.

I am dragged out of the crowd and up a staircase and into the middle house. We walk through the halls taking many turns and walking up some more stairs when suddenly, we stop. I look where we are and see that the soldier with a red badge has let go of me and is doing something with his hands by a door. The door flies open and I am thrown into the room. The man with the purple tie walks up to me.

"You will meet the elite leaders tomorrow. Then they will decide your fate." he tells me quickly. I look into his purple shiny eyes. I am shaking in fear and tears are beginning to fall.

"If you're worried about dying," the soldier with the black badge begins, "you shouldn't have to worry about that quite yet."

"W-why am I here?" I manage to barely speak above a whisper.

"That's classified information at this point," the man with the black badge replies. I open my mouth to ask for clarification but the soldier with the red badge makes the door slam shut before I can say anything. I look around the room and see a bed with very elegant sheets and thick blankets. The room is bigger than my room and has an empty wooden closet. I look at a mirror that hangs on a wall above a desk with many drawers. I see a scared girl with large black wings, staring back at me. Her eyes are heavy with tears that are on the brink of falling. She is shaking madly. The girl then falls to the floor, sobbing herself to sleep.
