°˖➴ #𝟬𝟮 - bittersweet
———
Settling into his friend's house, LEE HEESEUNG found himself surrounded by familiar comforts and the reassuring presence of a home. With a steaming mug of tea in his hand, Heeseung retreated to the comfort of the living room, sinking into the plush cushions of the sofa. The gentle hum of television provided a soothing background soundtrack, lulling him into a state of relaxation.
However, the encounter with Haneul has left him feeling unsettled. As the night wore on, he couldn't shake off the regret that clouded his thoughts. Every word exchanged replayed in his mind, highlighting missed opportunities and unspoken words. The nostalgia was bittersweet, reminding him of the distance that had grown between them over the years.
Despite the joy of seeing Haneul again, a sense of unease gnawed at him, a reminder of unresolved feelings and lost time. As Heeseung sat there, lost in his thoughts, his friend appeared thus breaking the silence with a casual greeting.
"Hey, everything okay?" his friend asked, taking a seat across from him.
Heeseung hesitated for a moment before offering a faint smile. "Yeah, just had a bit of an unexpected encounter today." His friend nodded, urging him to continue.
"It's complicated Sunghoon," Heeseung began, struggling to find the right words. "I ran into Haneul, at the grocery store."
Park Sunghoon's eyebrows raised in surprise. "Really? That must've been quite a reunion."
"Yeah, it was," he admitted, a hint of awkwardness creeping up into his tone. "But it also brought up a lot of old memories and feelings. Things I haven't really thought about in a long time."
Sunghoon listened attentively, sensing the weight behind Heeseung's words.
"I guess I just didn't expect it to hit me like this," Heeseung confessed, his voice tinged with regret. "There's so much left unsaid between us, you know?"
Sunghoon nodded understandingly, then leaned forward, intrigued. "How did she react when she saw you?" he asked, curiosity colouring his tone.
"Well... she didn't exactly look ecstatic to see me," he admitted, a pang of disappointment evident in his voice. "It was more.... surprised, maybe a bit uncomfortable."
His best friend nodded thoughtfully, processing Heeseung's words. "I see," he said softly. "Maybe there's more to it than what meets the eye. People change, you know? Maybe she's dealing with her own stuff."
"Yeah, you're probably right," Heeseung agreed, a flicker of hope stirring within him. "I just wish I knew what she was thinking, you know?"
Sunghoon offered a sympathetic smile. "I get it, man. But sometimes, all we can do is take the first step and see where it leads."
With a nod, Heeseung took a deep breath, feeling a newfound resolve stirring within him. As their conversation came to a natural pause, Sunghoon glanced at his watch, a hint of regret in his expression. "Hey, I hate to cut this short, but I've got to head out," he said apologetically.
Heeseung nodded, offering a small smile. "No worries, man. Thanks for listening."
"Of course," Sunghoon replied, standing up and grabbing his keys. "And hey, if you ever need to talk more about this Haneul situation, you know where to find me."
"Thanks, I appreciate it." Heeseung said sincerely, grateful for his friend's support.
With a final nod, Sunghoon headed towards the door, leaving Heeseung alone with his thoughts once again. As he watched his friend leave, he couldn't help but feel a sense of determination stirring within him, knowing that it was time to confront the past and make amends for the future.
