Judgement

———

HANEUL found herself standing in front of her closet, selecting an outfit for her dinner date, a sense of uncertainty hangs heavy in the air. She couldn't help but feel a knot of apprehension forming in the pit of her stomach, unsure of what to expect from the evening ahead.

Will he show up at all?

The question lingered in her minds, casting a shadow over her excitement for the evening. Despite her best efforts to push aside her doubts, Haneul couldn't shake the feeling of unease that tugged at her thoughts.

With trembling hands, she selected a simple yet elegant dress, hoping that its timeless silhouette will help her exude confidence and poise. As she slipped into the garment and surveyed her reflection in the mirror, Haneul couldn't help but feel a flicker of doubt gnawing at her confidence.

What if tonight doesn't go as planned?

With a deep breath, Haneul pushed aside her fears and reminded herself that she deserved to be treated with respect and kindness. With a touch of makeup and a pair of earrings to complete the look, Haneul stepped out of her house and into the cool evening air. The city streets were alive with soft glows from the streetlights, casting long shadows that stretched across the pavement.

As Haneul approached the restaurant, she noticed Minho already seated at a table near the windows. His expression is one of annoyance as he muttered, "Took you long enough."

Feeling a pang of frustration at his impatience, Haneul responded calmly, "Sorry, I had to walk here."

Her boyfriend's irritation doesn't dissipate as he nodded curtly, gesturing for her to take her seat. Haneul took a deep breath, steeling herself for what could be a challenging evening ahead.

With a tense atmosphere lingering between them, Haneul picked up the menu and began to scan its contents, hoping to divert attention away from the awkwardness of the moment. As she peruses the offerings, Haneul's mind raced with thoughts of what to order. She carefully considered each option, weighing her choices with a sense of deliberation.

As Haneul navigated the uncomfortable exchange with Minho, a welcome distraction arrives in the form of the waiter, who approaches their table with a friendly smile.

"Good evening, folks. Have you had a chance to look over the menu?" the waiter asked, his demeanour polite and professional.

Haneul nodded, grateful for the interruption. "Yes, thank you. I'll have the grilled salmon with steamed vegetables, please," she said, her voice steady despite the lingering tension at the table.
