THE NEXT DAY, Haneul's morning started as usual. She woke up to the soft glow of sunlight filtering through her curtains, gently nudging her awake. Stretching her arms above her head, she yawned and rolled out of bed, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation for the day ahead.
After a refreshing shower and a quick glance at her schedule, Haneul decided to stop by a cozy coffee shop she often frequented. The familiar aroma of freshly brewed coffee greeted her as she stepped inside. The barista, recognizing her as a regular, gave her a friendly nod as she approached the counter.
"Good morning, Haneul! The usual latte and croissant today?" the barista asked with a warm smile.
Haneul nodded with a smile of her own. "Yes, please. And could I get that to go?" she replied, knowing she had a busy day ahead.
As she waited for her order, Haneul took a moment to admire the cozy ambiance of the coffee shop. Soft jazz music played in the background, mingling with the comforting hum of conversation from other patrons. The smell of freshly baked pastries wafted from the display case, tempting her senses.
Soon, her coffee and croissant were ready. She paid for her order, thanked the barista, and left the coffee shop with the warm cup in one hand and the paper bag containing her breakfast in the other.
The brisk morning air was invigorating as Haneul made her way to the library, a short walk from the coffee shop. The streets were starting to bustle with people going about their day, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose as she headed to work.
Reaching the library, Haneul greeted her colleagues and exchanged pleasantries with Mrs. Choi, the library assistant who had been her mentor since she started working there. Mrs. Choi had a kind smile and asked about Haneul's plans for the day.
"Today's the big day," Haneul said with a smile, referring to the book fair setup. "I'm excited to get started."
Mrs. Choi chuckled. "I can see that. Well, you better get to it. Looks like Chaewon is already here and ready to dive in," she said, nodding towards Haneul's friend who was unpacking boxes.
Haneul smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Mrs. Choi. I'll get started right away," she said, walking further into the library.
As she approached the area where the book fair materials were stored, she saw Chaewon busy at work, stacking books and setting up display stands. To her surprise, Heeseung was standing nearby, chatting with Chaewon and looking over the materials.
