THE WARM AMBIENCE of the quaint cafe enveloped Haneul as she sat alone at a small table near the window. She absently traced the rim of her coffee cup, her thoughts drifting to the events of the evening. Once again, she found herself stood up by her boyfriend, Minho. It had become an all-too-familiar scenario — one that left her feeling increasingly disillusioned and uncertain about their relationship.

Haneul sighed, her gaze flickering to her phone, willing for it to light up with a message or a call from Minho, but it remained stubbornly silent. Each time he offered a plausible excuse for his absence — a last-minute work meeting, a sudden illness — yet Haneul couldn't shake off the feeling that she wasn't a priority in his life.

As she sat there, a bittersweet wave of nostalgia washed over her, carrying her back to simpler times, to a childhood filled with laughter and endless adventures alongside her best friend, Heeseung. They had been inseparable, sharing secrets, dreams, and countless memories. But as they grew older, life had a way of pulling them apart, and they lost touch.

The memory of Heeseung lingered in Haneul's mind, casting a shadow over her thoughts. She wondered why he had returned, what he was doing, and if he ever thought about their friendship as much as she did. But most of all, she couldn't shake the question that had haunted her for years — why had he left without saying a word of notice?

A whirlwind of emotions flooded her mind. Did he not value their friendship enough to stay in touch? Did she do something wrong to make him leave without a word? The questions gnawed at her, threatening to unravel the fragile threads of their connection.

Just then, a familiar figure caught Haneul's eye through the cafe window. It was Heeseung, walking past the cafe with a purposeful stride. Heart racing, Haneul's voice caught in her throat as she called out his name. Heeseung turned, surprise flickering across his face as he noticed the girl.

"Haneul.." he breathed out.

Their eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. After all, it had been many years since Heeseung left without a word to pursue his dreams at college. The pain of his sudden departure still lingered, leaving behind a void that Haneul struggled to fill.

As Heeseung hesitated by the door, Haneul felt a surge of longing — a desperate desire to bridge the gap that time had carved between them. "Would... would you like to join me?" she asked, her voice barely audible over the gentle hum of the cafe.

Heeseung's eyes softened, a flicker of warmth melting the walls he had built around himself.

"I'd love that." he replied, a hesitant smile playing a the corner of his lips.
