Roman came to a stop at the end of a long hallway. Virgil almost bumped into him, he stopped so abruptly. There were two rooms across from each other. In the middle was big stained glass window, it went from floor to ceiling and was filled with beautiful colors. The colors formed to make a perfect rose. On the floor ran a beautiful red and gold rug that lay on top of a dark hard wood flooring. A guard stood in front of the window facing down the hall Roman had just lead Virgil down."This is your room," Roman said as he motioned to the door on the right. He opened it to reveal a big room. Virgil stepped into the room and gasped. To his left was a full sized bed perfectly set. It had a hard wood head board and foot board. There was a wooden chest at the end of the bed. On the same left wall was a wooden wardrobe. A big window was on the back wall that had curtains on either side. On the right wall was a book shelf filled with books and beside that was a door. A bright light hung from the ceiling. Virgil looked around in awe. It was beautiful, it was perfect. Virgil looked back at Roman. "This is mine?" He asked like a little kid would when given a present. Roman nodded, "Yeah, sorry it's not anything special, but you are just an assistant so," Virgil touched the wall to his right, feeling the white floral wallpaper beneath his fingers. "Nothing special? This is the prettiest room I've ever seen. It's almost as big as his house was." Roman cocked his brow, "His house? Did you not live where you speak of?" Virgil didn't answer. He was busy walking around his new room. Roman watched him curiously.
"My room is across the hall. You start tomorrow. Make sure to be in my room 7 am sharp. I'll walk you through your first day." Roman said. Virgil nodded and walked back up to Roman. "Yes, sir." Roman gave him a curious look and nodded. "I'll be in my room if you need me. You're welcome to just stay in here the rest of the day." Virgil nodded and watched Roman leave and close his door behind him.
The extra door in Virgil's room lead to a bathroom. Virgil was so excited, he's never had anything of his own before and now he has all this. He opened the wardrobe to find clothes of all kinds. In the drawer at the bottom held pajamas. All of this was his.
It was late in the evening, the sun was starting to set. And even though he had just showered a few hours prior, Virgil grabbed a set of pajamas from his wardrobe and went to take a nice, long shower. The pajamas were soft, they were a black button up and black pants. The clock on the wall read 10:04, it was dark outside.
Virgil looked at his door, he had a question but was afraid to go across the hall to ask. He opened his door and looked at the guard. The guard nodded to him, Virgil opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again, "Excuse me, sir? Is Prince Roman still awake by chance?" The guard looked at the Prince's door, a small glow came from under the door. "It would appear he is, kid, head on in." The guard answered. Virgil nodded and carefully knocked on the door before opening it.
Roman sat at the back of his room at a desk. He looked up and meet Virgil's eyes. "Everything alright?" Roman asked, Virgil nodded and closed the door behind him. "I just had a question." Roman motioned for him to ask it. "Do I have a dress code?" Roman cocked his head, "A dress code?" Virgil nodded, "Yeah, like do I have to wear anything specific." Roman ohhed, and smiled. "If it's in your wardrobe, you're welcome to wear it." Virgil nodded and apologized for interrupting. Before Roman could answer he was gone out of the room and back into his own bedroom.
Virgil pulled back the covers on his bed and laid down. The bed was so soft, softer than anything Virgil had ever felt before. He sighed contently and soon fell asleep.
Maybe being a servant wasn't so bad.
