Roman laid next to Virgil in bed. It was about mid day but Virgil was fast asleep. He came into Roman's room at 7 seeming more tired than normal, and by 11 am, Virgil was fast asleep in Roman's bed. He was cuddled into Roman's side with Roman running his fingers through his hair.

Roman was thinking. His mind was all over the place but he had one recurring thought. He didn't know much about Virgil. And Virgil didn't know much about him, but there was also wasn't much to know about Roman. He'd been in a castle his whole life. But Virgil hadn't. He wanted to know everything about Virgil. Virgil always deflected any question about his family. He never gave more than that his mom wasn't around much or at all. It nagged at Roman.

As he was lost in thought, Virgil squirmed uncomfortably in his sleep. And after a few moments, Roman looked down at him. Virgil squeezed his eyes shut harder and whimpered slightly. Roman shook him gently. "Virgil?" When he didn't wake up, Roman shook him harder. Then, Virgil started to cry in his sleep. Roman shook him and called his name until he woke up. Virgil sat up in bed quickly and looked around, his eyes darted around before landing on Roman.

Roman held his arms open and Virgil fell into them sobbing. "Hey, hey, shh," Roman hushed, he petted Virgil's hair. Virgil shook in his arms and was mumbling, "Don't make me go back, I don't wanna go back." Roman held him tighter, "Shh, I won't, I won't make you go back." Virgil looked up at him. Roman's heart ached at the look on Virgil's face. "Promise?" Roman nodded and wiped Virgil's tears away. "I promise, baby," Virgil cried into Roman's chest more and held onto him tightly.

It took him a few minutes to calm Virgil down. Roman titled Virgil's head up. "You okay, baby?" He asked softly. Virgil nodded and sat up, still leaning against Roman. "What was that about, sweetheart, what had you so upset?" Roman asked him, he kept his voice soft, not wanting to upset him anymore. Virgil sighed heavily and slouched down again. Roman held him tightly and petted his hair. "You don't have to tell me, if you don't want." Virgil shook his head, "It's just hard." Roman nodded and hushed him, "Take your time, baby."

Virgil took in a shaky sigh. He had a hard time finding the words. He didn't know how Roman would react and that worried him. He's always kept to himself when it came to his feelings. He looked at Roman, his eyes were soft and reassuring. Virgil fidgeted with the blanket. "So," He began, Roman nodded and laid his hand on top of Virgil's. "I thought I was back...there," Roman nodded and titled his head, "Back where, sweetheart?" Virgil sighed, "His house," He said quietly, almost as if he was scared to say it. He met Virgil's eyes and nodded, encouraging him to continue. "His house...m-my father's, I dreamt I was there again. And it scared me." Roman nodded and pulled Virgil back into his chest.

"Why are you scared of your childhood home?" Roman asked gently. Virgil shook his head. "It wasn't a home, Roman." Roman heard the defense in Virgil's voice so he didn't push anymore. He only nodded and held Virgil close. Virgil mumbled a quiet sorry to which Roman shushed him.

Virgil stayed in Roman's arms for a long time. It was nice though, he wasn't complaining. He felt bad for not telling Roman more, but he just couldn't. To talk about it made him relive it and he just couldn't. He sighed and settled himself in Roman's arms. Roman petted his hair and never let go of him.

Roman held Virgil close. It hurt him that Virgil didn't trust him enough to express himself, but Roman understood. If it was something traumatic then he knew Virgil wouldn't want to share it. So, Roman stayed quiet and held Virgil close. He was okay with silently comforting Virgil.

Virgil looked up at Roman. Roman met his eyes, he brushed Virgil's bangs out of his eyes. "Are you okay, baby?" Virgil hesitated before nodding. "Yeah, I'm okay, Ro." Roman smiled gently and nodded, "Good," Roman released his hold on Virgil, to which Virgil whined and pulled at Roman's shirt. "Shh, I'm just laying down," Roman said before moving to lay down on his bed. "Now, c'mere," Virgil laid down on Roman's chest and sighed.

Virgil felt safe with Roman. Perhaps sometime soon he'll open up to the prince. Soon Virgil felt Roman's breathing even out. Virgil smiled and curled closer to Roman. He, himself, soon fell asleep as well. Soft snores came from Virgil. It was a cute sight for sure, Patton would definitely agree. As he had entered the bedroom to find them together.
