Virgil stepped out of his room and walked over to Roman's room, it was 7 am. Remy stopped him before he could go in, "Roman wanted to be alone last night, he might still want to be." Virgil nodded, "If he does, I'll leave."

Virgil walked in to find Roman not in bed. He looked around to see him on the balcony. Virgil made his way to Roman and lightly touched his arm. Roman jumped and looked over his shoulder. "Virgil," Roman breathed, "You startled me." Virgil smiled slightly, "Sorry," Roman backed away from Virgil. "Are you okay?" Virgil asked quietly. Roman shook his head, he turned and walked back into his room. Virgil followed him and closed the balcony doors.

Virgil sat next to Roman on the bed. "You wanna talk about it?" Roman shook his head no again. Virgil nodded and rubbed Roman's arm. Roman was laying down on the bed on his side. "I don't want to be king," Roman mumbled quietly. Virgil looked at him and tilted his head. "What?" Roman sighed and rolled over. "I don't want to rule beside someone I don't love. And that's what father wants. He wants me to rule with a queen, he doesn't care if I love them or not." Roman sat up and pulled his legs up to his chest. "I don't even want a queen." Virgil stared at Roman for a second. He didn't know what to do. Virgil moved so he could hug Roman. "I'm sorry, Roman," Roman just hummed and let Virgil hold him. He dropped his legs down so Virgil could hug him easier. Virgil played with Roman's hair some and kept him close.

"I'm not good at this whole comforting thing," Roman laughed sadly, "You're doing fine, Virgil, thank you." Virgil let go of Roman and scooted back so he could lean against the wall. He motioned Roman over and Roman laid down on his stomach. Virgil ran his fingers through Roman's hair. Roman mumbled something Virgil couldn't hear but Virgil didn't ask about.

Roman sighed contently. He felt safe laying on Virgil. Maybe he was touched starved but it felt nice to be held. While his mother loved him dearly, she never really held him, she was so busy ruling with the king, she didn't have much time. The only true parenting he got was from Patton. So to be held so gently and so comforting was nice. He soon fell asleep in Virgil's arms.

Virgil smiled and continued to pet Roman's hair. Virgil never received any form of affection as a child so he didn't truly know what he was doing, but he was trying his best. He wanted to comfort the future king. For reasons he didn't understand. He didn't understand his feelings at all, he was never really allowed to express himself.

He looked down at Roman and smiled. He was cute when he slept, was that creepy to say? Virgil didn't know. He looked to the clock on the wall and sighed. It was still early in the day. He studied Roman's face, perhaps he didn't sleep much the night before, and that's why he's asleep so soon? Virgil stopped messing with his hair and grabbed a blanket from the foot of the bed. He covered Roman up with the blanket and smiled some when Roman smiled in his sleep.

A knock rang out on the door before it was opened. In walked the king. "Virgil," He breathed before looking down at his son. "Is he all right?" Virgil shrugged lightly, "I'm not sure, your majesty," Arthur sighed and sat down on the edge of Roman's bed. "Was he asleep when you came in?" Virgil looked at the king. How would he been asleep and got into the position he is in? Virgil couldn't move him. "No, he was out on the balcony. We've been in here for a little bit." Arthur nodded and sighed. "I was going to apologize to him but I guess it will have to wait." Virgil nodded, "You should apologize." Virgil said in a stern voice. He resumed his task from earlier of playing with Roman's hair. "Pardon?" Arthur said, slightly surprised by the way Virgil spoke to him. "Roman was upset the whole morning, he apparently didn't sleep much last night, and Remy said Roman wanted to be alone all yesterday; and he was with you yesterday so clearly it had to be something you did." Virgil spoke fluently and confidently to the king. Arthur nodded slightly, "I see, Virgil, I'll excuse myself." Virgil watched the king leave. Maybe he shouldn't have spoke to the king that way.

Virgil eventually fell asleep too, laid against the wall with Roman in his lap. He was comfortable, he liked this.
