"I don't care what he says," Blaise snapped, "I know a lie when I hear one."

"I don't think he was lying, Blaise. At least not to hurt anyone," Daphne said looking at Phoenix knowingly, "But I do believe he was just covering up for Scar."

"Why would he do that?"

"Remember how Scar said she was planning a birthday party for Nix? Maybe he was trying not to blow up the plan," Daphne replied, "Let's not blow this up out of proportion."

"I don't think so, he's hiding something," Blaise insisted, "Something is going on and he's not telling us."

Daphne sighed exasperatedly, "They're probably planning the party, Blaise."

Blaise scoffed, "Fine, let's say that's true. I still don't understand one thing. Why isn't Scar involving us in planning this so-called party for Nix?"

"We're closer to Nix than those blasted Gryffindors," he continued, "If there must be a party, shouldn't we be the ones planning it?"

"I have to admit you do make sense," Draco said, looking up from the book he was reading. "Why aren't we involved in this –" he stopped himself before the words could fall out of his mouth as Phoenix sent him a sharp glare, indicating him to drop the subject. Draco looked up at Blaise, clearing his throat and said, "Or maybe we can all just stop talking about Lupin and whatever shenanigans Scar may or may not be up to."

"Thank you," Daphne sighed, "I don't think I can listen to his ramblings anymore."

Blaise turned to his friends and groaned, "You're all daft and annoying, not me."

"I can vouch for that," Phoenix murmured under her breath, which did not go unnoticed by Daphne and Draco.

"In case you haven't noticed, I'm on your side," Draco said looking at Phoenix, as Daphne scooted closer to her, placing her hand on her forehead. "Are you catching a fever?" She asked, her voice laced with concern, "You're warm."

"Nah, I'm good," Phoenix promised, "I'm just a bit tired."

"From Lupin's constant lies," Blaise quipped, "So am I, Nix. So am I."

Daphne shot him a look, making him shut up immediately. She cupped Phoenix's face in her hand and gently turned it towards her, "When was the last time you got a proper night's sleep?" she asked, noticing the bags under her eyes.

Phoenix looked away from her and shrugged in response. Blaise towered over the pair, as Draco moved closer to Phoenix, examining her closer. "I thought your eyes were red from the steam from the cauldron, not because of sleep deprivation."

"I am not sleep-deprived," Phoenix said moving away from Daphne and Draco, "I am fine, besides, I did sleep this morning."

Daphne raised an eyebrow at her, "What, for an hour?"

"It's not my fault that Scar woke us up," Phoenix grumbled, as Blaise asked, "Did you stay up all night again?"

"What, me? No, never."

Draco laughed ruffling Phoenix's hair, "Nice try, White."

"If you have to lie, at least make it believable," Blaise laughed, "You should learn from Lupin. He's horrible, but at least he's a tad better at it than you are."

"Honestly, what's gotten into you today?" Draco asked glancing at Blaise, "Since when do you care so much about Lupin?"

"Since always, given how I foolishly believed that we were friends," Blaise replied hotly, "In case you haven't noticed, I don't like being lied to."
