The Charms class was beginning to turn into one of the most entertaining classes Scarlett had ever experienced in a long time. Professor Flitwick was demonstrating to them the wrist movement of the Levitation Charm, reminding them to enunciate the spell properly as he called out, "Swish and flick, remember swish and flick. And saying the magic words properly is very important too," he added, as one by one, began to start practising the spell hoping to make the feather perched in front of them fly.
While the rest of the class was desperately swishing and flicking their wands, Scarlett leaned over from her desk and tapped Draco's shoulder and whispered, "So, how long do we have to pretend to be sucking in this?"
"As long as it takes to make it look believable," he replied casually before turning back to lazily swishing and flicking his wand.
Scarlett rolled her eyes at him and stared at the feather on her desk. Just one flick of the wand, and she knew it would shoot up flying in the sky. Beside her, Blaise was doing the same thing as he tried to keep in his giggles. He couldn't get the image of Phoenix covered in shards of shredded vegetables out of his mind.
"Cut it out, Zabini," Phoenix hissed as she kicked him under the table. He had been giggling away the whole day whenever he looked at her, and no matter how many times she had threatened to jinx him, he wouldn't stop.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Daphne exclaimed, flicking her wand. The feather quickly shot up but fell back down on the desk when her gaze landed on Draco.
"What? It's way lighter than Blaise," Daphne said with a shrug.
"Hey!" Blaise yelled in protest, making Daphne send him a sheepish smile, "Sorry, but you aren't exactly as light as a feather."
Blaise held out his feather and brushed it over Daphne's neck, tickling her. She squealed in surprise at the sudden contact and scooted away to the farther end of her desk. Next to her, Pansy glared at her in annoyance. "I don't understand why I always get stuck with you, Greengrass."
"That makes two of us, Parkinson," Daphne muttered as she swatted Blaise's feather away from her face.
"I'm bored," Draco sighed, leaning his head against his palm.
"I could tickle you," Phoenix offered, waving her feather before his face.
Draco's lip twitched in amusement as he looked at her. "I'm afraid I have to pass."
Phoenix grinned as she placed her feather back on the table, but not before brushing it past his ear, tickling him in the process. Draco was about to call her out when they heard Flitwick cry out, clapping, "Oh, well done! Everyone see here, Miss Granger's done it!"
Draco watched the feather hovering over Hermione's desk with a frown on his face while Phoenix cheered happily next to him. "Good job, Mione!" she cheered, drawing Hermione's attention, who turned back from her seat to look at her.
Phoenix waved at her, but Hermione just stared blankly at her before turning away from her. "That was odd," Phoenix mumbled. "Wasn't it?" she asked, looking at Draco, who shot her a glare.
"Never mind, forget I said –"
"Mr Zabini, please stop hitting Miss Greengrass on the head with your feather," Flitwick called out as he walked over to them.
Daphne flushed in embarrassment as Blaise muttered a quick, half-hearted apology. "Let's see you give it a try, Mr Zabini," he said, pointing to the feather. Blaise nodded hesitantly and flicked his wand. "Wingardium Leviosa!"
The feather hovered above the desk for a while before falling back down. Flitwick smiled at him encouragingly. "Keep practising, Mr Zabini."
"Yes, Professor," he replied, looking flushed. Flitwick was about to go back to his desk when his eyes landed on Phoenix.
