MALIBUFlorence Meadows was trying to get to the safe house when the tyre of her car was shot Florence's car jerks to a halt, the sound of the punctured tyre echoing in the otherwise silent surroundings. Heart pounding, Florence quickly glanced at the rearview mirror, her eyes widening at the sight of a figure approaching. The man, with a glinting metal arm, strides toward them with a gun held menacingly in his grip.
She fumbles with the door handle, her mind racing. She needs to get to Avalyn. She needs to protect her. With a frantic push, Florence throws the car door open and steps out, her feet hitting the ground as she makes a desperate move toward the back door.
"Stop!" she shouts, her voice a mix of fear and defiance.
But it's too late. The sharp crack of a gunshot pierces the air, and Florence feels a searing pain tear through her side. She stumbles, her hand instinctively pressing against the wound, warm blood seeping through her fingers. Her vision blurs as she falls to her knees, her strength waning.
The soldier doesn't spare her another glance. He reaches the car, yanking the back door open with a brutal force. Inside, Avalyn, wide-eyed and trembling, tries to scramble away. Her small frame is no match for the soldier's iron grip as he drags her out of the car.
"NO! AVALYN!"
The soldier, his face cold and unyielding, ignores her. The young girl struggles, tears streaming down her cheeks, her cries mingling with Florence's pained breaths.
Florence reaches out, her vision darkening, but the soldier is already moving away, Avalyn unconscious over his shoulder. The last thing she sees before everything goes black is her daughter's face, and the feeling of helplessness crushes her as the world fades away.

"There. Let's hope for the best."
Avalyn glared down at the words on the paper, scribbled in messy handwriting as she prepared to leave. Leaving was for the best, she had to finish her mission before her family panicked about her being missing or they found her to murder her.
