Avalyn Stark had not felt this lost since she left HYDRA.
She'd followed the law...she'd done the right thing but the right thing felt so wrong and she hated it. The right thing in the eyes of the law was not the right thing in the eyes of morality or family.
The Avengers were gone; the family she'd so quickly grown to love over two years after being moved around for years — the life of isolation that turned into beautiful admiration for those that had taken her in. How was she supposed to deal with the fact they were gone?
Then there was poor Rhodey. The man she adored who'd wound up paralysed, though Avalyn was sure her father would do everything to find a way to help him. Rhodey didn't deserve that.
"Avalyn," Florence Stark's voice echoed in the large room.
"I don't want to talk," Avalyn muttered.
Her knees were up to his chest as she sat on her bed in the Avengers compound. Her room was too large for her liking, filled with nothing but emptiness when she first got there. Her parents had done their best to fill it with things she wanted or they thought she'd like but she still found the space was too vast. There was too much space to find herself getting lost in.
"I think you will," Florence disagreed. "Your father is going to visit the raft. I think you should go with him."
"They all hate me, Mom—"
"No, they don't," Florence said, sitting beside her. "I won't lie to you...they hate your father, but no one blames you, alright. You need to see Pietro."
"If I see him, I'll want to break him out."
"Maybe you should," Florence replied quietly, kissing her head. "Not today...but we both know Steve won't leave them there."
"Then why is Dad going there?" Avalyn questioned.
"Because Steve was right, and now he has to find him."
