Just a distraction

It's not a secret that Rosé has a super gorgeous girlfriend. Despite them never openly interact with one another in the public, but everyone in the campus knows when Rosé's ex said that she is happy for Rosé on Instagram.

A little bit of the background story, Rosé, Rosé's ex and Y/N are the very famous love triangle in the campus. It doesn't help when Rosé and Y/N get together one month after Rosé and her ex broke up. It also doesn't help when Rosé is famous for being the main vocalist in her band and this band is literally the most popular one and the most active one in the campus. It too doesn't help when Y/N's reputation is not good since there is a rumour that she only gets in this university because of her parents, who are the owners of the university. On top of that, Y/N is the current president of the school. The only thing that people forgive her for is her outstanding visual.

However, it doesn't mean that people stop judging her for so many other things. She doesn't care if people called her a nepo baby, a slut, an unfriendly dictator. The one thing she could not accept is when people compared her to Rosé's ex. Rosé's ex, Eun Soo, who happens to be the vice president, just makes it more convenient for people to compare them together. Unlike Y/N, she is the friendliest person in the campus. Let's be honest, Y/N is not actually unfriendly. But she is too pretty. To the point that nobody dares to interact with her and that's why people start to think that she has no friend because she is unfriendly. Other than that, she is a complete control freak when it comes to work so the other school committee members doesn't exactly have a good impression on her too even if she has finished every single task perfectly.

As if it's not bad enough, her own girlfriend admits to her friends that she is just a distraction to her today. She doesn't mean to eavedrop the conversation but she makes bento for her girlfriend and decides to visit her during their band practice session. Y/N's love language is act of service, she will literally do everything for Rosé and yet the latter will still think that their love is not that deep. To be fair, they didn't start off being crazily in love with each other.

Rosé was drunk when they met each other. It was meant to be an one night stand but Rosé started to realise that this girl was completely different from her ex as she started to chat with her more. Then, she told Y/N about her thought honestly and suggested that they should try dating so that she could be her distraction and help her in moving on. Any other normal human would say fuck you and leave but this is Y/N, who falls in love with Rosé when she first saw her. Thus, despite knowing that this may hurt her very bad at the end, she still goes for it.

"Y/N? She is a distraction for me when my ex broke up with me. She knew that too,"

"Ouch! So how is Y/N as a distraction working for you?"
Jisoo asks with full of interest.

"She is a good girlfriend but I don't think we are in love,"

"How long have you been dating each other for? Don't you think there is a limit to this?"
Lisa asks while frowning.

"It's just eight months. I am not planning to break up with her since she could be my best excuse to reject people without feeling bad,"

Oh. That's why. She wondered why they could last for eight months until she heard Rosé's explanation. Now it makes sense.

Actually, she has better things to do, an essay to write, an event to supervise and an upcoming volleyball competition she needs to prepare herself for. Why does she even bother to waste time making bento and sending lunch to her? She is just a distraction anyway.

On the way of leaving, she bumps into Jennie. Being the good friend that she is, she is about to walk in the room and tells Rosé about her girlfriend's arrival, only to have Y/N stopping her from doing so.
