A few days after visiting Cole's dad, the ninjas who had found their true potential, along with Nya, were out on the deck training in the dead of night. They were honing their skills in pitch darkness, attacking Serpentine dummies. But where was Kai?

"Earth!" Cole exclaimed, flipping into a Serpentine dummy with his scythe and smashing it to pieces.

"Lightning!" Jay chimed in, smirking under his hood as he zapped another dummy.

"Wind!" Felix shouted, throwing her sais at a third one. They crossed each other in midair as a blast of wind struck right through it.

"Ice!" Zane finished off the last one with his shurikens. Just then, a light turned on, lighting up the deck covered in destroyed training dummies.

Nya smiled at them from behind the spotlight. "Good training. Your powers are getting stronger. Lex, how's your shoulder feeling?"

"A bit stiff, but the bandages aren't coming loose, so that's a bonus," Felix replied, stretching her aching shoulder. It had been bugging her since a little accident during their last training session.

"Great. But where's Kai?"

Inside, the Red Ninja had been in Master Wu's room the whole time, throwing punches and doing flips, trying to get his powers to work. But he was also doing something he was not supposed to do. "Fire! Unlock fire!" he shouted, getting nowhere. "Uh, fire go! Shoot flames! Oh, come on. Everyone else can do it, so can you. Bring the heat!"

Hearing some snickers, he glanced up and saw the others in the mirror, standing in the doorway. He turned to face his teammates, who were all laughing at him. "Very nice," Cole teased with a smirk. "Perhaps if you tried the phrase 'Fire Dork,' maybe it might work."

"How long have you been standing there?" Kai asked, looking mortified as he took off the hood.

"Long enough to find this amusing," Felix replied with a shrug, leaning against the doorframe. "But seriously, dude, where did you find that?"

Jay gasped as he noticed the outfit Kai was wearing. "The Green Ninja gi! That's awesome!"

"Well, I was looking for some kind of clue from Sensei and then I found this," Kai said, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

Felix raised a brow. "So you figured that putting it on would magically trigger your powers?"

Zane shook his head, both from amusement and disapproval. "But you know only he who is foretold to face the dark lord is destined to be the Green Ninja, and only he should wear the gi. So Sensei would most likely be very--"

"I know, I know," Kai interrupted, waving him off. "But I thought if I just tried it on, it might help me see my true potential. It's not fair that you guys unlocked your cool powers and I still haven't. Besides, Sensei's not here, and we don't know when he's coming back."

As if on cue, Master Wu's voice rang out from the upper deck. "Hello? I'm home!"

"Sensei!" Everyone except Kai cheered with excitement. They all rushed out of the room to greet him while the Red Ninja hastily changed back into his own gi.

"Ah, it's so good to be home," Wu said with a content sigh.

"Well, it's good to see you home, Sensei," Felix stated.

"So glad you're back," Zane added.

"Did you bring us anything?" Cole asked, jumping in between them.

"Oh, Sensei, have you missed a lot," Jay chuckled, patting Wu on the shoulder. "Zane's a Nindroid, Felix's mom is on the police force, Nya's the mysterious samurai, Cole's a dancer—"
