Rimuru POV:
I teleported back to the forest and immediately took my human form, letting myself fall onto the floor. I chose the same spot where I had rested before; it's the most comfortable place in the forest. Almost as soon as I settled, I felt a familiar presence approaching. I looked up to see Gloxinia, and I straightened up to greet him.
"Hi Gloxinia, I'm back. Don't worry, they won't be coming here for a while, at least not for the same reason as before," I said. He seemed intrigued and asked me about my day.
"So, how was your time with the demon princes?"
(Jep, I knew this was coming. Let's see how he reacts to this.)
"It was quite the experience. The demon realm was fascinating, and I had a great time with Meliodas. I even managed to leave quite an impression on the Demon King himself. Humbled him, in fact—if you can believe that." As expected, Gloxinia's eyes widened in shock. I couldn't help but laugh, enjoying his reaction. My laughter drew some curious looks from the fairies, who were surprised to see me.
I let Gloxinia recover from his surprise before he spoke again. After a minute, he managed to say, "You're truly remarkable. I never thought I'd see the day when the Demon King would entertain the idea of being humbled. And you make it sound like it was just a minor event."
I stood up, ready to move on. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I have another engagement before my meeting tomorrow morning." Gloxinia's teasing grin appeared as he asked, "Oh, and what's this about a meeting? A special date, perhaps?"
I felt my face flush red and stammered, "It's not like that! Meliodas and I don't have that kind of relationship at all!" Gloxinia laughed heartily, clearly enjoying my flustered reaction. I decided to head off and test my new fairy form. I transformed and, to my relief, found I could float with it.
"Wow, it actually works. I didn't expect it to be so seamless," I remarked as I floated effortlessly. My fairy form allowed me to levitate and move with ease, which was convenient. I didn't look any different from my human form on the outside, but the added functionality was a pleasant surprise.
After greeting Gerheade, I made my way to Vanya. Flying in fairy form was surprisingly energy-efficient, which was a good sign for future travels. My goal in Vanya was straightforward: get some good ale. I didn't have any money with me, but given my previous interactions, I was hopeful they'd remember me favorably.
As I neared the village, I spotted a fight between a gray demon and a goddess. I was about to detour when I saw the village chief's son hiding behind a tree. (Leaving now would mean the child could be in danger, and the ale wouldn't taste as good knowing I didn't help.) I shifted back to my human form, used 'future prediction' and 'thought acceleration,' and sprinted through the chaos to the child. With a quick 'return' spell, I brought him to safety.
He looked up at me with recognition. "You're the one who fought those monsters," he said.
"Yes, and it's not safe to be out here with demons and goddesses fighting nearby. What were you thinking?" I asked, my tone firm but kind. (People who can't defend themselves should stay away from dangerous situations.)
"I'm sorry," he replied, looking downcast.
"Let's get you back to Vanya Village," I said with a reassuring smile. (It's good to make sure another family isn't left suffering.)
As we arrived, the villagers looked relieved and happy to see the boy safe. I told him to go to his family, and they thanked me profusely. I introduced myself as a traveler in need of some ale, mentioning my past heroics to explain why I wasn't paying. The villagers, remembering my earlier assistance, were eager to help and gave me three barrels of ale.
When the village chief offered to help further, I declined any additional rewards, saying, "Just the ale will do. I have a party with my family tomorrow." I smiled, using my charm to my advantage.
The chief was more than happy to oblige, and I levitated the barrels with my fairy magic. "Can you carry all that?" he asked.
"With my magic, it's no problem," I replied, demonstrating by floating the barrels effortlessly. (It's handy to have these abilities.)
The villagers cheered, calling me "The Storm Warrior," a name that made me pause. A sudden headache struck, sharp and fleeting, causing me to stumble slightly. I frowned, rubbing my temples as an unexpected wave of unfamiliar nostalgia washed over me. (I don't remember why that name affects me like this, but it feels oddly significant.)
Shaking off the discomfort, I floated the barrels back to my home, pondering the strange reaction to the nickname. After cleaning up, I made sure to get to bed early, eager for the next day's events. (Tomorrow should be interesting.)
