Rimuru POV:
I never thought that moment with Meliodas would lead me to tears. It's not like I've considered Ciel's presence as anything negative. I rarely dwell on it, often feeling more grateful for it than anything else. Yet, I didn't expect to cry like that. Perhaps it's just the emotional weight of it all. I should get Meliodas back before it gets too late; I don't want him to face trouble because of me. It's time to broach the topic."We'll need to make a plan for when I teleport you back home," I said reluctantly.
"You're right. We can't discuss everything we talked about here. Also, I need to give the Demon King some information to cover our tracks," Meliodas agreed.
"I'm fine with him knowing about my magic sense—that's how I perceive magic around me. It's not a lie, just not the whole truth. And while it might be relevant that I enjoy talking to you because I don't have many friends, it's not critical. Though, he might think he can use that information, even if he can't really do anything in the end," I suggested.
{I would advise having a conversation with him and providing false information for him to relay to the Demon King.} Ciel's suggestion came through clearly.
"Maybe we could discuss some false details, and you can present them as my input, leaving out the fact that you know it's false. Think you can manage that without being discovered?" I proposed.
Meliodas's confident smile returned as he replied, "If I couldn't handle that, I'd be treated quite differently by the others. Let's see who can come up with the most convincing false facts about you." He laughed, clearly enjoying the challenge.
"Good plan. Afterward, we can have a face-to-face discussion about what we concocted," I added. Ciel chimed in with advice on ensuring our cover story was convincing. {Make sure to include details that align with what's already known about you but mix in some inconsistencies to avoid suspicion.} I nodded, appreciating the input.
So, we set to work, inventing false facts about me. Within an hour, our plan was ready.
"I should teleport you back to the meeting spot now. And don't forget, I still need to visit the Giants and the Goddesses' clan. I need to see them firsthand before forming any judgments," I told Meliodas. He looked at me with a mix of amusement and concern, clearly thinking, Only you would be bold enough to do that.
"Don't worry about me. I'll stay under the radar of the demon clan. It's no big deal," I assured him nonchalantly.
"You know what? I'll pretend I didn't hear that. I might break character back home otherwise," he muttered. I couldn't resist teasing him.
"Is my boyfriend worried about me? That's so cute," I teased.
He blushed and tried to maintain his composure. When he managed to regain his usual demeanor, he said, "Let's go back." I transformed into my demon form and took his arm once more. "Prepare yourself; we'll likely be seen as soon as I teleport us. Three, two, one, Return."
We reappeared in the demon realm. I maintained a friendly smile as I released his arm and took a casual stance.
"Thanks for spending time with me. I had a great time today. Let's do this again when you're free. Say hi to the others for me," he said with his initial expression.
"It wasn't a problem. If I have the chance, I'll reach out," Meliodas responded in his neutral tone. (He's really good at this.) I gave a slight bow and said, "Goodbye, Meliodas. I look forward to our next meeting. Return." I teleported back to my house.
I hope Meliodas can manage the situation without issues. I'd feel terrible if he got into trouble because of me. "What should I say to the other races?" I mused. Why didn't I think of this earlier? I can be such an amateur sometimes.
{Rimuru, if I may suggest, visiting Belialuin before approaching the other races might be wise.}
"Isn't that the capital of the wizards?" I asked.
{Exactly. It's a neutral area and a great place to expand your magical knowledge in your goddess form.} (That's a good point. In a fight with my current goddess form, it would likely end in a stalemate at best.)
"I'll follow your advice and head there next. Thanks for the suggestion, Ciel. Let's see what awaits." After tidying up my house, I set off for Belialuin. My incomplete fairy form is ideal for traveling—moving through the clouds without expending much magical energy is perfect.
{Master, you're nearing Belialuin. I recommend landing and walking the rest of the way. Also, consider adopting a youthful appearance.}
"Why would I do that?"
{Young children often study there, so a child's appearance would help you blend in without drawing too much attention.} (That makes sense.)
I landed and used magic to alter my appearance to that of a young child. It felt odd to look so youthful again.
"Time to play with some minor magic spells with attributes from various races in the city." That's the advantage of my human form—versatility without specialization. For simple tasks, it's quite effective. (First, I need to sneak into the city unnoticed, so I'll appear as a child who wandered away from the tower.)
With this plan, I slipped into the city without much trouble. As I explored, Ciel spoke up.
{You're nearing the tower's personnel; it's best to start your plan now before they spot you.}
"Here goes nothing," I thought. I cast minor demonic and holy spells to create a commotion while moving towards the direction Ciel indicated.
When the disturbance reached their ears, they turned to investigate. As they approached, I feigned ignorance and continued my antics. Just as I was about to glance back, I ceased using my magic and turned around. But before I could escape, they used magic to immobilize me.
"What are you doing here, little girl? Shouldn't you be at the tower?" they demanded. I put on a worried expression and replied, "Why should I go there? I don't know anyone there. Why would I go?"
"And your parents? You're too young to be out here alone," they insisted.
"I don't have any," I said with a nervous laugh. They exchanged glances and began dragging me towards the tower. (This is too easy. Let's give them a little show.)
As we neared the first checkpoint, I used "Return" to teleport a few meters away. I landed unceremoniously on the ground. "Ouch, that hurt." They saw me trying to get up and reached for my arm, but I deftly dodged them.
"Let's play, mister. Try to catch me!" I called out, evading their grasp. The second person cast a sleep spell, which I let hit me intentionally. I pretended to fall asleep as they picked me up, feeling us teleport to a new location. This is going to be an interesting experience.
