⊱———————————————⊰

"We lived together in a stone-cold 'paradise', with this frozen love as our only shelter.
It grew around us like frosty wings, begging to fly, but destined to the earth."
    -Ariana

  Please,

  Let us fly.

⊱———————————————⊰

Tall trees with large roots pulling at the ground and anything that stands in their way.

Rusted metal poles and buildings from a time that passed long ago.

Animals chittering and running free, no longer fearing the ones who had kept them captive for so long.

Humans. It's very rare to see one out in the open nowadays. Well, unless you find a prison full of them, or you see a hybrid that looks almost fully human.

Now you see humanoids soaring high up in the sky, swimming deeper into the oceans and waters, running with the horses and wolves, hanging in trees. That's the new normal now.

Of course, the humans are still thriving, just differently than they did in the past. They usually stick to underground caves or extremely remote places. Always avoiding the "monsters" they accidentally created.

Always fearing the worst.

A tall brunette frantically dashed out of an old mansion, its tall wooden walls surrounded by forest and the occasional mutated mushroom—which was also the product of human experiments.

His skin was littered with scars, and his beige collared shirt and brown cargo pants—both were surely stolen—had tears and holes in them. His emerald green eyes were blazing with fear and determination.

His companion said that he'd be right behind the brunette, and yet Scar couldn't see his friend anywhere. Scar slowed down and leaned against a giant mushroom, breathing heavily. He could just wait for his friend there.

Scar picked at his 'borrowed' clothes curiously, feeling what it was made of. Scar had taken them off of an unfortunate human who had tried to enter the mansion and steal from the Illegers and Vexes that inhabited it—Illegers are mutated human hybrids who become violent and sometimes learn magic; Vexes are hybrids that are the corrupted brothers of Allay hybrids.

The pant leg was stained by a red liquid, and Scar was pretty sure that it was human blood.

A rustle in the trees beside him and a flash of baby blue startled Scar, his first thought was that the Vexes had found him, and that he would be forced back into the Woodland Mansion and have to stay there for the rest of his life. But the torn at the end lab coat and shiny black hair eased his nerves—it was just his friend.

"Cub! Thank goodness, you're not hurt, are you?" Scar scrambled to his feet, brushing off his pants and smiling down at his friend.

He patted Cub's shoulders and his eyes scanned him, checking for any serious injuries, but all he found was a few scratches and a cut on his arm—nothing the two couldn't fix easily.
