Mistakes (Yuri X Male!Reader)

Chapter 7

The entirety of the Literature Club decided to do an activity together, well, Monika had the idea, and they all agreed. 

"Where shall we go ?" Y/N asked as it was the first time he attended their outing. "We normally go to a small café near the school, at five or six minutes at walking pace." Yuri responded as they all exited the school ground. "The same one over and over ?" He asked as he suddenly had a little idea. "Exactly, it has a good ambiance, we all like it." Sayori barged in the conversation.

"How much would you like to test another café ?" Y/N asked to the group of girls, which they all stopped to look at him. "And why is that ?" Natsuki asked, putting her hands on her waist. "Sure, going to a place you fully know is relaxing. But discovering new things is thrilling too." Y/N said with a smile. "I mean, I have nothing against it." Monika said, curious to where Y/N would lead them. "Me neither."  "I hope it's not crappy." Sayori and Natsuki responded at the same time. "I don't mind too." Yuri responded as well.

Knowing they all agreed to his plan, Y/N smiled more as he walked forward. "Then follow me, I'll show a good place." He said as the girls followed him, well, Yuri found herself at his right. 

"Do you know the place ?" Yuri asked, which made the boy nod. "Of course, I wouldn't recommend doing that if not." He replied as he thought of this place. This café he thought was his favorite place when he moved in this city. When the memories became too unpleasant to bear, he'd stop there for a quick drink. And it helped when the owner of the place was kind.

"By the way, when did you join the school ?" Monika asked, she knew he was a new student, but she didn't see him anywhere. "Last month, on the 4th." Y/N replied as he remembered the day as well. "Since you're in your last year, like us, it means you're 18, right ?" Natsuki asked, to which Y/N laughed a bit. "You're right, but I'm actually 19." Y/N said as he looked behind him to see the interlocutors. "Oh ! That means you repeated a year right ?" Sayori said, innocently. 

He knew that following this subject, they will connect the dots. But nonetheless, Y/N found his small falter when Sayori said that. Not because of her, but because of why he 'repeated' a year. "Not exactly." Y/N said as his smile wavered more that he'd like, which didn't go unnoticed by the purple haired girl.

"What do you mean by that ?" Monika asked, as much as Y/N hated to lie and to be lied, he couldn't even start to talk about that. "I'd rather not talk about it." Y/N's voice, normally laced by a calm tone, was unusually cold and harsh. The four girls of the club was surprised by his voice, and looked at each others. 

"S-Sorry." Sayori said as she nervously scratched her neck. "Don't be, you couldn't know." Y/N said, his voice still laced by this coldness. "Oh, sorry about that." Y/N apologized and cleared his throat. "We shouldn't be far now." He said, his voice returning to a chill tone. 

But the girls knew that it was a subject that Y/N wouldn't want to talk about. Even if they all knew him for three days, they were accustomed by his relaxed behavior. That was what made his charm. Y/N was always calm, collected. So hearing him talk like he was 'out of character' made them worry a slight bit.

Yuri was the one who was the most affected by that. She knew that he had some sort of bad experiences in the past, or at least she thought it would be the case. So seeing how his smile died when this subject came, it strengthened her hunch about it.

"We're here." Y/N said as he pointed the door of the café, several meters away. "I know that one, no wonder this road seemed familiar." Yuri said, which made Y/N laugh. "Not only it is near my house, but it's also a really good place." Y/N said, smiling a bit, Yuri looked at him and nodded to herself.

'At least he's still able to smile.'

"You decided to go there just because it would be less far away from your house ?" Natsuki said, with a joking tone. "You can't blame a lazy guy for being lazy." Y/N shrugged. "Plus, I know a guy there, I'm sure it'll help." Y/N said as he mimicked the sigh of money. "Oh come on, you want to grab free drinks ?" Sayori asked while laughing a bit. "Never hurt to try, come on." Y/N said as he opened the door for the girls.
