Humanity has a huge problem with problems. Taking the form of a toxic relationship, humans don't like problems, but try and make them without thinking about the consequences.
Of course, there's humans who love to make problems, and feeds relentlessly on making them. Some like making light problems, like throwing a pen at their friends to annoy them. Some like to make medium problems, like arguing with someone just for the sake of it. And some like to make great problems, like making someone feel miserable or unwanted.
Those ideas were linked to their selfish personalities or personas they wanted to show off disgustingly. They wanted to have attention, praises and what more, so they chose the easiest way. Picking and making a random person and making them the pariah of the class, group, or even school.
Yuri had a huge problem with, well, problems. She hated them, due to how many problems started with her, at least that's what the boys and girls in her middle school wanted her to think.
'Look at her, always reading.' 'She's showing off her breasts, that slut.' 'I bet the shy personality thing is false, she's just a massive hiding sex freak.' 'Seeing her smile while she reads give me the creeps.' 'Apart from her curves and beauty, she have nothing to offer.'
So many hurtful thing said in her back, but she could hear those. Upon hearing that, Yuri decided to just not do anything, they would just make fun of her, and move on when they'd notice that her reaction wasn't what they expected. But they were determined. A tad too much.
Those remarks, and, let's not beat around the bushes, their bullying was stronger and stronger each passing day. She had to endure it for her final year in middle school. And let's say that the final impression of Yuri for them changed drastically. She wasn't the shy, introverted Yuri we all knew.
She had a problem with her own mind. Once that part of her was birthed, it existed in her brain like a parasite feeding into her urges. She disliked the harsh, blunt, selfish part of her. But she knew that it always existed, they just made it came into the light.
The number of times she wanted to just insult Jacob and Jared to the point where they couldn't show themselves in public anymore. The number of times she wanted to just tell her classmate to shut the fuck up when they made rumors about Monika. The number of times she wanted to just beat someone up when they badmouthed Sayori's happiness, or Natsuki's bluntness.
But, when Y/N appeared in her life, one of those situations was almost created as well. She wanted to brush harshly Natsuki and Sayori off when she saw Y/N happily chatting with them. And she disliked it, they were her friends, her best ones, one she can trust like family. So why seeing Y/N smile happily with them made her angry ? She should be happy to see her now-boyfriend being friends with her best ones.
It was sickening to her, she wouldn't want to hurt her best friends just because they talked to Y/N. But that thought was lingering inside her head. She thought it was just jealousy. But why would she feel jealous ?
Y/N always made sure to compliment her, making sure to show how much he loved her. She feared that her experience in middle school had marked her stronger than she thought. Safe to say that her self-esteem plummeted, she thought that she was unworthy of him, so she worked hard to earn his affection.
But shouldn't it be the case ? Shouldn't a couple be happy with each other, flaws included ?
She wanted to believe that, oh so badly. But couldn't, she wanted to get ride of anything negative from her to be the perfect woman for Y/N. He deserved a loving girlfriend, flawless, perfect.
That's why she wanted to show off, to make sure other girls wouldn't take her Y/N. Because he made her feel loved, wanted, he cherished her. She loved that feeling of being number one to someone, after what she had been through, it felt surreal.
