I retrace my steps from the other day up to where I saw Hiccup in the woods. From there on I sneak through the trees looking for any signs of him and what he's been up to. I don't know how long I walk for or how many times I retrace my steps and end up back at the large boulder that I've decided to call base for now. I walk up a small incline that I don't think I've explored yet when I hear a low gurgle. On instinct I drop to the ground and cover. The low growl continues but I can tell it's comeing from away for me. I slowly stand back up and continue slower up this small cliff edge. I stop over trees and boulders until I come to what's almost like a cage with no roof. There's a small valley in these cliffs that's surrounded on all four sides. There's a lake in the middle and most of trees and rocks and-. I duck down when I see the black dragon.

I belly crawl over to a boulder and slowly peak my head over confused as to what the black beast was doing. I look back over and see its drawing in the sand with a large trunk. I close my eyes and slide down to the ground. "Oh Loki, I'm sorry that I've offended you," I whisper under my breath and close my eyes knowing I'm being punked my the god of mischief. I climb over the wall again and want to pull my hair out when the dragon is still there.

I shift my bandage place to get a better look. A low growl echos through the valley and I pop out from behind a tree to see what the dragons doing now. My jaw drops when I see Hiccup sitting on a rock infront of the dark dragon. I feel myself reach for my daggers but stop myself when I realize he's not in danger. I watch as the twig like boy stands and walks around to look at the drawing this dragon made. I look around the valley to see if there's anyone else but am drawn back to the two of them when I hear the dragon growl. Hiccup lifts his foot from the line he was standing on and the dragon smiles? Hiccup puts it on it again before standing on undrawn ground. I don't know what game they're playing but Hiccup steps around the lines avoiding them and any uneven ground. I hold my breath as he comes closer and closer to the beast who watches him.

Hiccup backs up until he's right next to the dragon. Could this be the night fury he shot down, is this actually a night fury. No one's ever seen one so I don't know what to look for but this black medium sized dragon looks nothing like anything I've ever studied. He's almost beautiful.

Hiccup closes his eye as he holds his hand out. I watch carefully hoping that he doesn't end up getting eaten. He's already gotten close enough for a crazy person let alone a smart one. I unlock the strap on my dagger sheave incase I need to throw one to save this stupid boy. I'm not sure if I'm too far away but I guess better I try then just let him become dinner for this wild animal. The dragon looks at his hands and slowly moves toward it. I grab my dagger out and position it to throw if worst comes to worst. The dragon closes its eyes and leans into the boys hand. I'm so shocked that my dagger falls from my hand and bounces of a rock at my feet. The sound echos down to the boy and dragon and they break contact. I duck back behind my tree and peak out from a different spot. He seems more surprised than me that he touched the dragon and I let out a sigh of relief.

Hiccups not just ruining my chances at winning he's messing with dragons. I pick up my knife and quickly run down the steep hill trying my best not to fall. If he gets a night fury trained he'll be unstoppable. I won't even be able to beat him even if I were to train a monstrous nightmare.

"He took my hand and swallowed it whole," Gobber explains while holding up his stub. I set the chicken leg I was eating on down no longer feeling hungry. "I saw the look in his face, I was delicious." I look across the fire at Hiccup who hasn't said anything since he arrived a little bit ago. He climbed up to the watchtower and picked up his small fish and started cooking it over the fire. The nights so clear tonight that Gobbler wants us to experience what being on watch feels like if we were to be attacked by dragons at all.

"He must have passed the word because it wasn't a month until another one took my foot," this time he holds up his left leg and wooden peg. A round of oohs goes around the fire and I roll my eyes before leaning back against the pole behind me. I watch Astrid who's looking out at the horizon most likely trying to see a dragon before the rest of us. "Isn't it weird to think that your hand was inside a dragon. Like if your mind was still in control you could have killed the dragon from the inside by crushing his heart or something," everyone goes silent at Fishlegs observation. Ruffnut points to the chicken leg at my feet and I nod my head and she takes it from me. I send her a forced smile as she takes a large bite of it. How she can eat so much during this story is beyond me.

"I swear I'm so fricking mad. I'll avenge your beautiful hand and your beautiful foot," Snotlout shouts before taking a large bite of the full chicken he's cooking. "I'll chop off the legs of every dragon I fight!" He points his chicken at each of us and I scrunch my nose up feeling ill. "With my face," he adds and the twins nod along which makes me look to Astrid's she's watching Hiccup with so much anger that even I would want to hide if I was him.

"It's the wings and the tails you really want. If it can't fly, it can't get away. A downed dragon is a dead dragon," Gobbler explains while chewing on his goose wing and I look back over to Astrid who's also glaring at our teacher and his messy behavior.

I look over to Hiccup who's in deep thought and I glare at him when he looks up and meet my eyes across the fire. How can this walking fishbone be able to tame a dragon or anything other than sharpen tools. He's useless and in my way. I stand abruptly before I'll say somthing or tell everyone of what I witness out in the woods today. "I don't see any dragon and it's late, I'm off to bed." As I walk down the steps I hear Gobber send the other teens off with the promise that to tomorrow we'll be fighting the big boys.
