"I'll gotta go see which of us won," I smirk at Ruff before rolling after my cousin. I arrive seconds after her to the sound of Hiccup thanking her. "Thank you m'lady." I scrunch up my nose before walking further into the iron works. "What are you up to?" Astrid's preppy high pitched voice is starting to get on my last nerve. I make myself known by hopping onto the far side of the table to see what Hiccups been working on. He sends me a polite nod before setting down his mug.

"You guys might think I'm crazy-" he starts talking and I cough out under my breath, "you are." I get a glare from Hiccup and an eye roll from Astrid. "I couldn't stop thinking about what Tuffnut said last night. Toothless can't come and go like the other dragons, and it's just not fair," the skinny boys voice changes to a more solemn one causing Astrid to set her tray that I just noticed us actually a shield down on the table.

"I was up all night and I think I've found a way to fix it!" He smiles his crooked loopy smile at us before grabbing the mug. He takes a big drink and I can see the moment his taste bugs register, danger, danger. "You built him a new tail! So he's going to be able to fly without you," Astrid is completely oblivious so the boy dying beside her. He looks to me with wide worried eyes as he looks around for a place to spit it out. "Wow, what I great gift," Astrid is still admiring Hiccups work as I have to hold in a laugh.

With all these questions Astrid's sending him he's having to hum in response which I can tell is activating his gag reflex. "What if he never comes back?" The blonde finally asks the silent question I thought we'd just leave drifting in the air. I stay silent as I watch the boys eyes fall down having just realized the magnitude of the freedom he's giving Toothless. Astrid pushes out air in a loud sigh. "What am I saying, of course he will," she rolls her eyes trying to diffuse the awkward tension she made.

"I'm going to go spread some more holiday cheer!" Astrid spins on her heel before waving to the small teen boy. "You coming Frey?" She calls turning her head to look back at me still on the table. "Yeah, I'll catch up," I nod at her and she shrugs before skipping away singing holding jingles. The sounds of sound splattering to the ground makes me look away from the happy blonde. "You don't like the yak mixed with the nogg?" I ask Hiccup who's currently wiping his tongue on the inside of her coat much like Snotlout was moments earlier.

The boy coughs out a few groans before glaring up at me. "Thanks for the warning." I send my best smile to the boy which makes him glower harder. "What was in that, moldy milk?" He asks as I hop down from the table to stand on the to her side did him, away from the Yaknogg. "Nope," I pop the p before adding, "just green eggs. Though we don't have a yak, so I'm not sure how she got milk from one," I pause as I finally think about all the things that aren't adding up about the horrid drink. This makes Hiccup gag again and me laugh.

"Are you worried about Mock?" He asks as if reading my mind which makes me freeze. "Not worried, just confused." I explain slowly still shocked he knew what I was going to ask before I even hinted at it. He nods encouragingly for me to continue talking. "Why didn't he leave, it's not like he likes me all that much. Why is my rude, shitty, violent, no good, oversized rooster of a dragon the only one that stayed back. Especially when I know that so many more have a much tighter bond to their dragons then I do to mine," my mouth word vomits all my worries.

Hiccup puts his hand on my shoulder like he did yesterday which makes me tenses up. My hand automatically drift towards my daggers and I'm not sure if he notices this but he doesn't move his own hands. "It's okay," he comforts and I raise my brows confused. He smiles encouragingly at me which makes me more confused. "That's it, that's all I get from the wise Hiccup? I get a it's okay?" Hiccup nods nor dropping his smile. "It's okay to feel sad and guilty for being the only one with a dragon this holiday," I want to correct him that he has his too but I know what he means. I'm the only one that has mine by my dragons own choice.

"Thanks for the help," I roll my eyes as Hiccup drops his arm. "Come with me," he nods towards the exit. "What?" I make sure to show my confusion on my face in full view. "I'm going to give Toothless his new tail, you should come with me. Get your mind on something else," he explains. I watch as he grabs the large machine tails he's been working on. "Come on Freya, it won't hurt you to come," his voice becomes a little more authoritative which confuses me but I still follow. "I'm only coming because I want to come," I explain as I follow. "And if you ever use that future chief bullshit tone with me again, I will rip out your tongue," I make sure to threaten after realizing how soft I've been in the last few minutes.

Hiccup doesn't say anything else as we come up to his house where his oversized pet is currently jumping up and done on the roof. "He thinks I'm inside and is trying to wake me," Hiccup explains as I watch the black dragon shake the house to the point I fear it might break. "Toothless! Come on down bud!" Hiccup calls and I'm shocked when it takes milliseconds for the lizard to jump down and sit in front of him with a warm smile on his face. "I got you something," Hiccup explains as this dragon smells it curiously.

The whole shows of it all makes me smile to myself. Hiccup moves to the back side of toothless, which causes him to see me. He leaps over to me with a goofy grin on his face as he waits for me to initiate contact. I smile down onto the goofy black dragon which makes his smile grow even more. He takes my friendly open demeanor as an invitation and rubs his head again my mid section. "You're so handsome," I whisper to him so Hiccup doesn't hear as I scratch behind his ear and under his chin. "Yes, you're so regal and handsome, uh-huh," this makes Toothless gurgle out his own compliment making me smile even harder.

His eyes suddenly darken as if he finally realized Hiccup was putting something on him. "He got you a new tail, so you can fly alone," I explain and Toothless turns to look at his tail shocked, which makes me jump back from the sudden movement. I look to Hiccup whose eyes are glued to the dragons reaction. Toothless flings his tail around trying to open the new mechanism, it takes him a few tries but the new dark tail finally opens matching the organic one of the other side.

"There you go, see now you can fly alone," Hiccup explains but Toothless won't stop looking at the new addition to his body. He opens and closes the talk seamlessly before turning to look at Hiccup his eyes no longer holding the warmth they were earlier. "Hiccup?" I ask but before Hiccup can even give his friends a hug the dragon jumps and flys away leaving us both stunned.

I immediately look to Hiccup who's seems to be having an inner war with him emotions. "Oh Hiccup," I whisper out as I watch the boys face turn red embarrassed. "Now I see how everyone else feels," he smiles meekly at me and I know he means how it feels to have your dragon leave you and have the one person with the worst relationship with their dragon be infront of you knowing that persons dragons is currently at home sleeping.
