"I might have just agreed to something really stupid," I said as I walked back into our apartment.

Gabbie and Kaia were both there, and they looked up at me as I came inside.

"What did you do now?" Kaia asked.

"Whitney, Professor Lawrence, whatever you want to call her," I said, "she asked me if I wanted to go to a conference next weekend and I told her I would."

"Like you're going together?" Gabbie asked me.

"Uh...yeah, together," I said as I grimaced.

"Why the fuck would you agree to that?!" Kaia asked.

"Calm down it's not that big of a deal," I said, "and because she told me that her boss and my advisor recommended it and said how good of an opportunity it would be."

"And since when do you care about that?" Kaia questioned.

"I don't know, it's not like I don't care about school at all," I said defensively.

"I know," she said, "but I don't think you would've ever agreed to go to something like this before."

"Well maybe Bailey is turning over a new leaf, it's senior year you know, time to get serious," Gabbie said as she grinned at me.

"Yeah! What she said," I nodded as I pointed at Gabbie.

"Uh huh," Kaia said, "I have a feeling it has a little bit more to do with a certain professor than anything else."

"I don't know what you could possibly mean," I said sarcastically.

"Surrrre you don't," Kaia teased, "but hey, shoot your shot no one's stopping you."

"I'm not trying to shoot my shot," I laughed, "we're both still in relationships and she's still my professor."

"Well it still might be a good chance to get to know her more," Gabbie said as she gave me a knowing look, "just saying."

"See?" Kaia said.

"Okay I've had enough from you two," I grinned, "I'm going and it's all going to be fine."

"Whatever you say," Kaia said with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes at her as I walked back towards my room. I didn't really want to admit it, but maybe they were both kind of right.

A few days later, Tanner was over and we were laying in my bed talking.

"Let's do something fun this weekend," he said as he wrapped his arm around my waist.

"I can't this weekend," I said, "I leave Saturday morning for a conference out of town."

"A conference?" He asked as he looked over at me, "for what?"

"It's just some educational shit with my professor," I told him, "it'll probably be pretty boring but they said it would be really good for me to go."

"With your professor? You mean the hot one from the bar the other night?" He asked as he wiggled his eyebrows at me.

"Yes," I laughed, "that's the one."

"Damn," he sighed, "you and the hot ass professor alone all weekend...I'm not sure how I feel about that."

"Wait, are you being serious?" I asked him.
