My eyes shot open at the sound of her voice and I leaned away from the wall so quickly that I almost fell over.
"Woah," she said as she grabbed on to my shoulder, "are you okay?"
"Oh yeah," I said, "I'm fantastic."
"Are you high right now?" She asked as she looked between me and the guy next to me that was still holding the joint.
"Oh fuck off, don't act like you care Whitney," I slurred.
"Right," she nodded, "well I wanted to talk but I can see that that's not going to happen tonight."
"You just go run back to Cam now," I said, "don't show up with him and then act like you give a shit about me."
"I didn't show up with him," she said through gritted teeth, "I would explain myself to you but something tells me that you won't remember anyway."
"Probably not," I said as I reached over and took the joint again.
I took a long drag and exhaled the smoke in Whitney's face. She scowled as she turned away and coughed.
"I'll be too busy running around and sleeping with anyone I can find," I continued, "that's what I do, right?"
She shook her head and sighed before turning around and walking back inside.
"Who was that?" The guy asked.
"No one," I mumbled as I leaned my back against the wall again.
A few minutes later, I heard Gabbie and Kaia's voices as they came outside.
"Well how the fuck was I supposed to know that she was going to come out here and smoke weed?"
"I don't know, but obviously we should've kept a closer eye on her!"
"I'm right around the corner dumb asses," I said loudly.
"Bailey, hi, there you are," Gabbie said as they looked at me and the mess that I had turned into.
"Want some?" I asked as I held the joint out in front of me.
"Uh yeah, totally," Kaia said as she took it from my hand.
Gabbie put her arm around my shoulders and led me away as Kaia spoke to the guy that I'd left behind.
"Sorry buddy, gotta go," I heard her say.
"Fucking hell, Whitney wasn't kidding," Kaia said as she caught up to us.
"What about Whitney?" I asked them, "is she talkin' shit again?"
"Nothing," Gabbie said, "we're going to get you home, come on."
At this point I had lost track of how much I'd drank, but between that and the drugs, I was not doing well.
Kaia got us an Uber and Gabbie continued to hold on to me as we waited for it to arrive.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Gabbie asked me.
"Obviously I wasn't," I mumbled.
"Obviously," Kaia said under her breath.
"You should've just told us that you didn't think you could handle coming out tonight," Gabbie said, "it would've been better than whatever this is."
"Fuck I just smoked a little weed," I said to them, "calm down."
"And drank a shit ton," Kaia added.
"Yeah I'm not going to try and reason with you right now," Gabbie said, "but you know damn well why this is a problem."
"Whatever," I said under my breath as my eyes started to fall shut.
When the car came, they helped me in to the back seat. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths as we went.
"If you puke I'll kill you," Kaia said.
I briefly looked over at her and saw the driver giving us a look in the rear view mirror.
"I'm fine," I said.
I laid back and let my mind go back into a haze as we rode the rest of the way home. I may have felt like I was going to vomit, but at least I was relaxed.
"Bailey, come on we're home," I heard Gabbie say.
I sat up slowly and put my hand on the back of the front seat as I got my bearings. I slid out of the car as Kaia held on to my arm, fuck I was a mess.
I heard Gabbie thank our Uber driver before they brought me inside and back to my bedroom.
"Sorry guys," I grumbled.
"You're okay," Gabbie said as she sat next to me on the bed, "I'm going to go get you some water, maybe you should change so you can just go to sleep."
I nodded as she left the room and Kaia looked over at me.
"Don't even fucking say anything," I said as I pointed at her, "just help me change."
She rolled her eyes at me but stayed quiet. I slowly stood up and started to change. Kaia grabbed shorts and a t-shirt and handed them to me.
I carefully got them on and flopped face down on to my bed.
"You're a real idiot, you know?" Kaia said.
"Shut the hell up Kai," I said into my pillow, "I know I am."
"You're lucky Whitney came and got us," she said just as Gabbie came back in with water.
"She did?" I asked as I sat up slightly to take a drink.
"Yes," Gabbie responded, "she told us how trashed you were and said you were out smoking with some sketchy looking guy."
"I don't know why she cares," I said as I put my head back down.
"God you really are an idiot," Gabbie said.
"Well it's not like she knows..." I trailed off.
"Just go to bed Bailey," Kaia said as she patted my back.
"You're feeling okay, right?" Gabbie asked, "you don't think you're going to get sick?"
"Yeah, I'm good," I said as I sighed, "thank you, I owe you both."
"You sure fucking do," Kaia said as they walked towards the door.
"Night Bailey," Gabbie laughed.
They both left and I closed my eyes as my head continued to spin. My high was wearing off and I could already feel a headache coming on.
I started to wish that I had tried to sneak the joint back with me, it would've been a hell of a lot better of a feeling than what I had now.
Fuck, I couldn't think that way. I didn't need to be high to get through this.
I took another sip of water before I set the glass down on my nightstand. Part of me didn't even want to fall asleep, because I knew what I'd have to face in the morning.
