The kiss was brief, but it was nearly enough to make me melt.

Whitney pulled away slowly, keeping her hand on the back of my neck. Her eyes searched mine like she was waiting to see what my reaction would be.

I hesitated for only a moment before I reached up and took her face in my hands. She smiled at me briefly before our lips came crashing back together.

I wrapped my arms around her as I leaned into the kiss, I wasn't letting her go this time.

The tastes of cherry and alcohol lingered between us as her tongue parted my lips. Words couldn't describe how happy I was to be doing this again.

When we finally pulled away from each other, Whitney looked at me again as she tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.

"Fuck I needed that," I said as I rested my head on her shoulder.

"Needed it, huh?" She asked.

"Yes," I said, "absolutely."

She laughed quietly as she trailed her fingers down my back.

"Come with me," I said as I leaned back and held out my hand, "bring your drink, can't have those going to waste."

She grabbed on to it and I walked her back towards my bedroom.

"Are you really trying to get me back into your bed already?" She asked.

"Oh shut up," I teased, "and technically yes...but only for innocent reasons."

"I don't believe that for a second," she said as she grinned at me.

I shook my head as we walked into my bedroom and I shut the door behind us.

"I just wanted to lay down and hang out in here, promise," I said.

"Alright fine," Whitney said as she eyed me suspiciously.

I laid down on the bed and leaned up against my headboard as I patted the spot next to me. She came over and joined me and I wrapped my arm around her shoulders as she leaned back.

"Cheers to...trying this again?" I hesitantly asked as I held my glass out to her.

She looked over at me, and her hesitation made me nervous.

"Yes," she finally said, "cheers to that."

She clinked her glass against mine and we both took a drink before I leaned over and kissed the side of her head.

"I did try to get over you, you know?" I asked as I glanced at her.

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" She laughed.

"It should," I grinned, "shows how much I like you unfortunately."

"Oh unfortunately, huh?" She asked as she sat up and looked at me.

"Okay well not unfortunately now," I clarified, "but yes for a while it was very unfortunate."

"You try sleeping around to get over someone and have it do absolutely nothing to help," I continued.

"Okay I didn't need to know -" she started.

"Yeah um, just forget that I said that," I cut in as I covered my face and laughed.

"But maybe I did that too," Whitney said, "you never know."

I put my hand down from in front of my face and narrowed my eyes at her.

"Don't tease me like that," I said.

"Oh like you didn't just say the exact same thing to me?" She asked.
