"Wait," Kaia said, "did you just say McKenzie? How the hell did she get involved?"

"It's quite the story," I sighed, "let me tell ya."

"Go for it," Gabbie said encouragingly, "we've got time."

I looked between the two of them as I wrapped my arms around my legs. I didn't even know where to start.

"Well," I said as I took a deep breath, "I slipped up and said something to Whitney the other day about coming over again, and I guess McKenzie somehow heard me."

"Oh fuck," Kaia said, "so the email you got from the dean..."

"Yeah," I said, "that's what it was about."

"So when I went to his office," I continued, "Whitney was there too, and luckily I came up with an excuse to somehow get us out of that."

"Well done," Kaia grinned, "what did you tell him?"

"I said she'd been coming over to help you with one of your classes," I responded.

"Why did I have to be the dumb one?" She asked.

"Shut up and let her finish," Gabbie said.

"Sorry, go ahead," Kaia nodded.

"Yeah so anyway," I sighed, "he bought it and basically just said he had to ask us about it, and said we needed to meet somewhere on campus now and not at our apartment."

"Well that doesn't seem so bad," Gabbie said, "wait how do you know it was McKenzie though?"

"Oh I'm getting there," I said.

"Right, sorry," Gabbie said.

"When we left, McKenzie was outside," I told them.

"Oh of course she was," Kaia said as she rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, so she started saying some stupid shit and I got in her face," I said, "and I would've liked nothing more than to fucking slap her, but Whitney broke it up."

"Damn," Kaia said as her eyes widened, "she should've let you go."

"Right?" I said, "I wish she would have."

Gabbie shook her head at the two of us and I continued to explain what happened.

"Anyway, Whitney got me somewhat calmed down and I went over to her house a few minutes later so we could talk or whatever," I shrugged, "and yeah...that's when things went downhill."

"Talk didn't go so well?" Gabbie asked as she gave me a sympathetic look.

"No, not at all," I mumbled, "I mean it was mostly my fault, but she said some fucked up shit to me too."

"So do we hate her now?" Kaia asked.

"Yeah I wish I hated her right now honestly," I said as Kaia got a small laugh out of me, "that would make it easier."

"But wait," she chimed in, "why was it your fault?"

"I um," I paused, "I said something about how we could go back to hooking up, and she got pissed because I didn't see it as anything more than that."

"Bailey," Gabbie groaned, "didn't we just talk about this the other day?"

"Yeah but I can't fucking help it!" I said defensively, "and see, look what happened as soon as that was brought up."

"All because she was risking her job for me or whatever," I continued angrily.

"Okay don't freak out," Gabbie said, "but she's kind of right."
