I rolled over in bed the next morning and immediately regretted my decision. My head was pounding.
I put my arm over my eyes and laid there as all of the events from last night came flooding back to me.
Jesus Christ I had fucked up, more than usual this time.
I had a pretty good feeling that I'd ruined things with Whitney and I for good after the shit that I had pulled.
I reached over to the nightstand for the glass of water that Gabbie had left for me and took a sip. Before I got out of bed, I cautiously checked my phone.
I wasn't really sure what I was expecting, but there was nothing from Whitney. I sighed as I slowly sat up and tried not to vomit from the pain in my head.
I leaned down and rested my head in my hands as I sat there for a minute. Maybe I should've just stayed hidden in my bed all day.
I finally got myself to stand up, and I slowly walked towards my door. I grabbed the blanket off the end of my bed and wrapped it around me before going out to the living room.
"Oh well good morning sunshine," Kaia said as she grinned at me.
All I could muster was a grunt in response.
"How shitty do you feel?" Gabbie asked.
"Very," I said as I sat down on the couch, "for a number of reasons."
"You did get pretty fucked up," Kaia said, "can't say I'm surprised."
"Yeah I know," I sighed, "I'm really sorry, you guys shouldn't have had to deal with me like that."
"Hey, that's what we're here for," Gabbie grinned as she brought me over a cup of coffee.
"Well I obviously appreciate it," I said as I took it from her hand, "but you shouldn't have to do that."
"I can't believe all of the stupid shit that I pulled," I continued.
I set the coffee cup down on the end table next to me and pulled my knees against my chest.
"I mean, I don't disagree with you," Kaia said, "but we also should've known not to go out, and especially not there."
"Mhm," Gabbie agreed, "but um, yeah...you smoking weed was - "
"I know Gabs," I said as I cut her off, "really fucking stupid, I know."
"But I'm good," I continued, "not good, but you know what I mean, it's not going to happen again."
"Are you sure?" She asked, "because last time - "
"Gabbie," I interjected, "come on, don't do that, and yes I'm sure."
"Well if you're ever not sure," Kaia added, "come to us before you go to some random guy in a bar please."
"Jesus it's not like I found him on the dance floor and asked if he had any drugs on him," I said, "we went outside to get some air and he offered it to me."
"Oh," Kaia said, "I guess I didn't realize that's what happened."
"Well it is," I responded, "I'm not saying that it makes my decision any smarter, but I wasn't going around looking for shit."
"That does make me feel a little better actually," Gabbie said.
"Did you both really think that's what happened?" I asked as I looked between the two of them.
"Well..." Gabbie said hesitantly, "kind of, can you blame us?"
"Fuck," I sighed as I put my head against my knees, "I guess not, but come on it's been a couple of years."
"Well you're going through a lot of shit right now Bailey," Kaia said, "we didn't know."
"I guess so," I said quietly, "but I'm fine."
"Not sure I can believe that after last night," Gabbie said.
"Look, I know that I fucked up, okay?" I said as I looked at them, "but please don't keep worrying about me."
"That's easier said than done," Kaia teased.
"Whatever," I said as I rolled my eyes, "I told you I'll be fine."
"You can't blame us for being concerned after how bad things got last time," Gabbie said.
"Jesus, I know," I said as I started to feel myself getting irritated, "but I'm telling you that's not going to happen, this isn't as big of a deal as you two are making it."
"If you say so," Kaia said hesitantly.
"I do," I said firmly, "promise."
"Well...what now?" Gabbie asked.
"What now with what?" I responded.
"With Whitney," she said.
"Oh right," I laughed, "yeah I'm pretty sure I fucked that up beyond repair."
"Damn, that bad?" Kaia asked.
"I mean, I told her to fuck off when she came to check on me," I sighed, "and insisted that she didn't give a shit about me because she came with Cam."
"But she didn't come with Cam," Gabbie said.
"Yeah I know that now," I told her, "it was just...not a good conversation, if you can even call it that."
"Well you know what I think you should do," Gabbie shrugged, "but you refuse to do it."
"Gabs I'm pretty sure that explaining everything wouldn't even help at this point," I said, "I made a fucking fool of myself last night, she's not going to want anything to do with me."
"You don't know that," she said, "she still seemed pretty concerned when she talked to us."
"I don't think it's a good idea," I shook my head, "look what the whole situation did to me last night, obviously I can't handle it."
"Bailey if you handled McKenzie...I'm pretty sure you can handle some shit with Whitney," Kaia said.
I laughed at her and shook my head again.
"I get what you're saying, but it's definitely not the same," I told her, "I never really cared about McKenzie, with Whitney I - well, yeah."
"Maybe if you give the whole situation some time to calm down you'll change your mind," Gabbie said, "and then Whitney will have some time too."
"Yeah," I sighed, "maybe, but I'm not counting on it."
"Anyway," I said as I stood up, "thank you guys again, and I'm sorry...again."
"As long as you're fine then it's all good," Gabbie grinned.
"Right," I said, "I'm going to go shower, maybe that'll wash some of the stench and regret off of me."
"Yeah I don't think that's how that works," Kaia said.
"Shut the hell up Kai," I laughed.
I playfully hit her on the back of the head as I walked by and went back towards the bathroom.
