"You ready?" Brian asked.
"Yep. Start the track." Hyacinth responded in the booth.
(Authors note: the song is guns and roses by lana del rey)
As the music started he tried not to pay any mind, but as soon as he heard her voice he was almost enchanted by her.
"heavy metal love of mine
i should've learned to let you stay"Although he was wearing sunglasses, she could still tell he was looking at her.
His gaze was fixed on her lips, he had only ever heard her sing alone once before, but it wasn't nearly as good as this, and other times it was always one of Freddie's loud upbeat tracks that she had her voice featured on. He was in disbelief that she sounded so beautiful.
Close to the end of the song he saw Brain fiddling with a couple buttons, and her soft vocals were heard overlapping her singing.
Soon enough the song ended and she dashed out of the booth.
"Well?"
"It was amazing Cynth." Brian smiled and hugged her.
"Beautiful, Cynthi." Deaky agreed, nodding his head.
She laughed and stood there awkwardly for a moment, waiting for Roger's opinion.
"Yeah, good." He mumbled. "What's next?" He asked Brian, who stood there for a moment, surprised at Roger's comment, but nodded and looked over to a notepad.
"Yeah, Cynth, you're back in there for the song.. Let the light in?"
"Okay.. are you sure?" She came over and looked at the notepad. "Surely there's another song we can do today." She mumbled.
"It's that or.. Black Bathing suit, we haven't recorded the instrumentals for any other songs yet."
"Oh.. okay." She nodded, and went back into the booth, making sure not to look at Roger, the last thing she wanted was for him to realise the song was about him.
As she sang he sat listening closely, so closely that he put out his cigarette. It was the first time today he'd been seen without one in his hand.
He soon realised that the lyrics sounded familiar, it reminded him of the days back in uni where they would meet at all hours of the night, just to drink and talk and spend time together.
Then he realised that this song was in fact about that time.
She came back out of the booth, taking one glance at Roger before grabbing her bag and rushing out the door, muttering 'smoke break' as she left.
"Okay, guess we can take a five minute break." Brian sighed and sat down next to Roger, but before he could even open his mouth to speak to him Rog was already out the door, following closely behind Hyacinth.
He had soon found her out the back, sitting on the steps with a cigarette in her hand.
He stood at the door, staring at the back of her head, she hadn't noticed him so he decided to say something.
"Those 'll kill you some day."
"i could say the same to you." She said, giving him a dry chuckle, though she still didn't turn around.
"i thought killing me was your job." He replied as he took a seat next to her.
She laughed and took a puff. "i'm surprised you remember that conversation."
"Well you looked so beautiful that night, how could i forget?"
"So i'm not beautiful anymore?"
"No! i mean, you're still beautiful, if not more, but-"
She cut him off with a laugh. "I was kidding."
He sighed and took her cigarette out of her hand, taking a puff before putting it out.
"Hey-"
"Was that song about me?"
She froze and let out an awkward chuckle. "What?"
"It was, wasn't it?"
"Well, i wrote it a long time ago-"
"Did you love me?"
Hyacinth fell silent and he looked down, nodding.
"Okay, so you didn't."
"I did."
He still didn't look up. "When did you stop?"
She paused and placed a hand on his arm, knowing that she'd regret saying this but went ahead with it anyway.
"I didn't."
He finally looked up and wasted no time kissing her.
He held onto her waist and she placed both her hands on the sides of his face.
He pulled away minutes later, slightly out of breath. "Be my girlfriend."
"Okay." she nodded and kissed him again, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him as close as possible.
They stayed like this for a few moments before hearing the door open behind them.
"Finally! We've been looking for you two everywhere." Brian said, and they both got up and made their way over.
Hyacinth went in first and almost ran to tell Deaky, while Roger slowly walked inside after her, a proud smile on his face.
"I saw that." Brian laughed as he followed Roger inside.
"I know." He grinned.
"Well it's long overdue, how long you been in love with her? Since Ridge Farm?"
"Longer, but that's when i realised."
"Ah, makes sense." Brian nodded and they walked back into the studio, Hyacinth already waiting patiently in the booth.
