Hyacinth opened yet another drawer full of junk, she was picking up all of her stuff from her mothers house as she had finally upgraded from a crappy apartment to a big mansion, near to places where the rest of the band were living, as they had all chosen to live in central london soon after everyone bought their house (excluding Hyacinth who refused to move for many years)
In the drawer she noticed that, under a pile of old birthday cards, there was a framed photo of the band, taken on the night of their first show together.
The five of them were pictured with Rogers old van.
Deaky was sitting on a crate by the van next to Brian who was sat inside, further next to him was Hyacinth and Roger, the same way they always sit: her leg over his with his arms around her waist, as Freddie stood posed for the camera, leaning against the van with his arms crossed.
All five of them had big smiles on their faces and drinks in hand, celebrating the (partial) success of their first ever show.
She then came across another one of her and Freddie in the studio, taken by Deaky on Hyacinths camera.
As she recalled the moment the photo was taken she relived a few memories of when the whole band was together, in the early stages of their career.
Finishing their first album, top of the pops, their first tour, staying at Ridge farm.
in that moment the nostalgia got the better of her and she picked up the phone, dialling Freddie's number.
"Hello?"
"Prenter? Put Freddie on."
"I'm so sorry-"
"Cut the crap, put him on the phone or i'll come up there myself and talk to him in person, this'll only take a minute."
He hesitated for a moment before getting Freddie.
"Cynthi?"
"Hey Fred, how are you?"
"I've been better, i'm so glad to hear from you, i'm so sorry about quitting the band. i just needed a change, but i miss you and the others every day."
"We're releasing an album." She said bluntly, and Freddie paused. "A Queen album, where you are not the lead singer."
The line went silent for a moment before Hyacinth heard Freddie sigh and say "Good for you. I'm glad that Queen can go on even without me."
"It's not the same Fred. We miss you."
"And i miss you, my darlings, as well. But i have to finish this album."
"I know.. just let me know when you wanna come back to the band."
"you really think roger would let me?"
"i can talk him into it." She said with a smirk that Freddie could hear in her voice, and she giggled as he gasped.
"Finally! you know how long i've been waiting for the two of you to get together?"
They talked for a while longer before Freddie was called back into the studio and they said their goodbyes to each other, promising to call again soon.
Hyacinth went back to clearing out her room but was soon distracted by Roger, Brian, and Deaky showing up to her door with a couple bottles of champagne and the plans to listen to their new album together for the last time before releasing it.
