It was the day of the release party and the band spent the entire day preparing for it, and the entire night drinking, dancing, and partying, all whilst listening to their new album.
Sometime around 10pm, Hyacinth's phone started to ring.
Though she wasn't around to pick up, so Roger did for her.
"Hyacinth darling, is that you?"
"Freddie?" Roger shouted in disbelief that Cynth had been in contact with him since he left the band.
"Roger, don't-"
He hung up before Freddie could finish his sentence, just as Hyacinth walked in.
"You're friends with that bastard?" Roger yelled, walking up to her.
"Rog, what are you talking about?" She put her drink down and placed her hands on his chest.
"Freddie just called. You and him talking again huh?" He shouted, making her step back.
"Maybe i am? So fucking what?"
"Do you not remember what he said to us? What he said to you?"
"He's on drugs, Roger! He didn't mean any of it!"
"Well that doesn't mean he never said it." Roger said, at a regular volume, before storming out.
"Rog, wait!" She called after him, pushing through the crowds in her home to try follow him.
Once he was officially out of her sight she grabbed a microphone, plugged it into the speakers and turned the music off.
"Alright, parties over! Everyone out!" She shouted from on top of a table.
A few minutes passed before everyone had cleared out, leaving only her, Deaky, Brian, Roger, and Miami in the house.
"What was that? The parties only been going on since 7." Brian said as Deaky helped her down from the table.
"I'm tired." She lied. "If you wanna continue the party at one of your own homes be my guest."
Brian and Deaky shared looks.
"My place or yours?"
"Mine's right round the corner." Brian said and Deaky nodded, the two of them saying goodbye to Hyacinth before dragging Miami over to Brian's, screaming at all the guests on the street that the party was going to continue at his.
"Rog?" Hyacinth called as she walked up the stairs, now regretting buying such a huge house. "Roger?" She called again, walking back down the stairs after looking for him in all the rooms on the first floor, not bothering to go up to the second.
Eventually she gave up looking, and went outside to the back garden for a cigarette, only to see him sitting on the steps that lead down to the pool.
She smiled and went over to sit next to him, getting slight deja vu.
"Roger.."
"Don't."
"Just.. hear me out." She pleaded, and he took one look at her puppy eyes before sighing and nodding his head.
"Fine. Go on."
"I told him about the album yesterday." She started, and could see his jaw clenched as he held back his complainants about her friendship with him.
"They played our single on the radio today. He probably heard it and called to say he liked it."
"If he likes your voice so much how come he never let you do the lead vocals?" Roger asked, letting out a slightly frustrated chuckle as he threw his finished cigarette to the ground, stepping on it.
Hyacinth laughed and rested her head on his shoulder. "Fred likes my singing, but he likes the limelight more... you should've seen him at my gigs back in uni."
"I thought you didn't know him before Queen?"
"I didn't. It was when we were Smile."
Roger turned to look at her, confusion scribbled over his face.
"I did jazz clubs and classy hotel bars. They don't really look for bands with that sort of crowd."
Roger nodded and turned back to face the pool.
She put her head back onto his shoulder and felt him place a kiss on her forehead.
"Sorry for not telling you about Fred."
"Don't be." He insisted. "I'm sorry for shouting at you."
