Gaelrus' black scales reflected in the dark green water as the dragon flew over the sea to search for Viky. Vergahl dashed past, playful as ever, and dunked down towards the water, stopping at the last moment to avoid getting wet.
"Focus Visenya!" exclaimed Baelor, his eyes fixed on the water below instead of his sister as he shouted, "Father won't let you come next time if you don't quit your fooling around!"
"I am focused!" she yelled back. "Just having a better look at the water for any signs of Viky!"
Baelor sighed and flew higher into the sky so that he wouldn't be distracted by Visenya any longer. He scanned the sky once more for any sign of the missing dragon, hoping to catch a glimpse of Viky's silver scales among the clouds.
No such luck.
A short distance from him, Daemon and Daenerys flew on Caraxes. The Bood Wyrm twisted and turned gracefully through the air, its red scales shining brightly in the sunlight. He kept making a strange sound, something Daemon had never heard before. It was sort of whiny and high-pitched, almost like a cry. It was not his usual whistle roar, and it made Daemon uneasy.
Daemon glanced over at Daenerys, who seemed unfazed by the noise coming from Caraxes. She simply continued to look out for any signs of Viky. "I don't understand," she said. "Why would she just leave? She has never done that..."
Daemon frowned, feeling a sense of unease creeping over him, but he stayed quiet.
"We will never find her..." the princess whispered solemnly.
"You are right. We won't," said Daemon. "She must find you. This whole search is pointless." He could see the worry in Daenerys' eyes as she hopelessly scanned the horizon once more. "She will find you," Daemon said firmly, trying to reassure both himself and his sister.
Their camp remained in the same place; only the complexion of it grew. Maekar insisted he had a brilliant idea, successfully making two more tents out of the materials they had gathered. Now all the family could sleep under a roof. Maekar, Baelor, and Rhaegon shared a tent, while Daemon and Daenerys had the other. Visenya was stuck with little Aemma and baby Tristan.
In the first tent, the brothers talked late into the night. Well, it was more Maekar talking, Baelor trying to keep him quiet, and Rhaegon just observing.
"But I am telling you, if we gather more branches and leaves, we can expand the tent even further," Maekar insisted, his eyes shining with excitement. Baelor sighed, knowing they would never get any sleep if Maekar's ideas continued to grow.
