The restaurant seating area was breathtaking. In the center fairy lights wrapped around a small oak tree that bent in an odd shape. It was outside, so the teens got to enjoy the warmth the summer night provided as well, further adding to the serenity Melina was feeling. When the waitress sat the group at a large table in the corner of the grass, she took their drink orders and left them alone.
A loud scream broke apart the serenity that was the fancy Italian restaurant. Four heads whip around, eyes bulging from their heads as they see Jak running in circles, his arms wrapped around his head protectively trying his best not to trip onto the strangers around them.
Melina spots two wasps flying around his head, a gasp leaving her mouth. Embarrassed, Nadia's eyes dart between Jak, the on lookers, and the waiters, not knowing who to address first. Sharing a look with Melina, they both understand their roles. Nadia begins apologizing and half explaining to the onlookers.
Jumping into action, Melina rushes forward, laughter escaping her mouth as she swats away the wasps. Her giggles stop the second her hand begins to ache. Looking up at it, she sees the ugly insect connected to the outside of her thumb.
Suppressing a scream, the girl pulls her hand back, shaking it violently till the wasp falls to the ground. Out of anger, she stomps on it four times, nearly breaking her foot in the process as she mumbles swears in Italian, earning wide eyes from people around her who must've been Italian or at least understood the language well enough to know she wasn't saying anything gracefully.
Finally out of her angry fit, she looks up to see Jak clutching his chest. She would've found the whole incident amusing, but knew if Jak been the one who'd gotten stung he would've ended up in the hospital due to shock. And unfortunately, she cared too much about the boy to let that happen, so now she had to deal with the aching of a wasp sting, so nothing was funny.
After the chaos, Melina sat beside Kimi as calmly as possible, scanning through the menu with a clenched jaw. Her stomach was grumbling but nothing seemed to look appetizing. In her peripheral vision, she noticed Kimi stealing glances at her. Eventually, she lets out a sigh and turns to him. Kimi immediately looks back go his menu, ignoring her confused look. The girl quickly grows self conscious.
"Is something on my face?" She asks, reaching for her purse to grab her phone.
The boys face flushes slightly, although Melina could hardly tell as it was getting dark and shadows covered most of his face. Kimi shakes his head quickly, "uhh, no. Sorry."
Melina's eyebrows pinch together, but she choses to ignore it, instead focusing on her pulsating hand. The pain was too much for her pain tolerance to well... tolerate.
"Uhm—" Jak speaks up awkwardly. "Is your hand okay?"
