A Single Flower

chapter thirteen

Starla's POV

The alarm going off wakes me the next morning. I sit up the covers falling away from me. Kaden is already at the door.

"Kaden," I whisper

He puts a finger to his lips. "Stay in here," he whispers

That's when I see it a small hand gun. I had seen them a lot when I was growing up. My father kept them around the house. I wasn't a stranger to them and could even tell you a couple of brands. I shiver at the thought of Kaden having to even use it. He steps out of the room, leaving me sitting on the bed naked.

I grabbed a shirt of his pulling it on but stayed inside the room as I was told. Going over to my small dresser, I pull my own glock 43x out of the top. I was going to stay but I was also going to be prepared.

The security system shut off, so either Kaden truned it off or someone killed it. I sit quietly watching the door. When it opens, I raise my gun. Kaden smiles

"At least I know you're safe," he says

I smile at him. "Did you find anything?"

"I'll have to go over the security types after a while. Might have just been a tripped wire, " he tells me

I put my gun back into the drawer and grab some clothes. "Guess that's one why to get up in the morning."

Kaden's arms wrap around me from behind. "What ya say, we forget about the alarm and get a shower?" he says, kissing my neck, and his phone rings about that time.

"It looks like you're busy," I hum as his fingers drum over my bare lips below the phone rings again

"Damn, whoever that is," he says, I smile

"It might be important," I tell him

Tilting my head back, he kissed my lips before releasing me. "We'll continue this later," he tells me

I smile as he pulls away, grabbing his phone, and he answers, stepping out of the room. I get my shower and dress for the day. I had luch with Moria, and then I had to go over to the docks and see about some shipments that are supposed to be coming in today.

I dressed in a pink jumpsuit  strapless. With skin tone sandles. I didn't do any makeup today pulling my hair up into a ponytail.

"Hey, beautiful," Kaden says as I step off the stairs

"Hey, I'll be back around 4:00 " I let him know

"Be careful," he tells me, kissing my lips

I text Moria as I start out.

Starla: On my way

Moria: About time

Starla: Have me a coffee waiting

Moria: yes ma'am

I stepped into the little diner a while later that I was meeting Moria at. I see her already sitting at one of the tables

I hug her as I get to her. "How you been?" she says

"Just exhausted, really. Can you believe what wants been going on? " I ask her

"Dad said the same thing happened when Mr. Gregory was alive. I'm sorry I shouldn't bring that up. "

"No, I heard all about it. My dad was quicker with the gun, so he shot Gregory. Kaden told me him and his mother were thankful for what my dad had done. "

"Why?"

"His dad wasn't a very generous person behind closed doors."

"OH, that's sad."
