It took Flowertail a quarter moon to become suspicious of Cliff.

"Are you sure you know where you're going?" Flowertail questioned him for the third time.

Cliff puffed out his chest. "I understand you might be shocked by my skills in travelling, but there's no need to be discreet about it. if you want to compliment me, there's no need to be ashamed."

Flowertail tried vigorously not to kill him on the spot.

He had led them through a meadow, a marshland, and now a forest.

"I think he's lost." Menace muttered as he padded next to Flowertail. The only benefit of having Cliff around was that Maple seemed so distracted by his presence that she appeared to have forgotten to keep Flowertail and Menace constantly away from each other.

"Of course he knows where he's going. He told us so." Maple replied.

"There's a thing called lying, Maple, where some cat doesn't tell the truth." Flowertail snorts.

"Like what you do all the time?" Maple sniffed. "Cliff is trustworthy."

"And hedgehogs fly." Flowertail grumbled under her breath.

"Beyond this forest is a horseplace." Cliff told them. "It's got dogs, but they usually only come out at night."

"See? He knows what he's doing." Maple told them as they emerged from a clump of trees and found themselves standing in front of  a strange looking twoleg nest with red walls and white stripes. It had a monster standing guard beside it, with a twoleg walking around the tall yellow fields.

"What is that twoleg doing?" Maple asked, befuddled.

"Its walking towards the monster." Menace replied, equally confused.

All four cats watched in horror as the monster opened its mouth hungrily, and the twoleg disappeared inside it.

"The monster ate the twoleg!" Flowertail gasped as they crept forward into the tall yellow grass.

"It's moving!" Cliff yowled in alarm as the monster began to rumble towards them, tearing down the yellow grass with its thick black paws.

Menace snarled at the monster, and Flowertail watched him in panic.

"Menace, we have to go." She meowed urgently, trying to nudge him in the other direction.

"I wouldn't bother trying. He's going to try to fight it." Maple told her drily. "And if you don't want to get caught in the way, you should probably move too."

"I'm not leaving him." Flowertail growled, surprised that Maple was willing to leave her brother at the mercy of a monster.

Menace growled, and Flowertail turned back to him shock as he leapt at the monster in a reddish-yellow blur.

His front paws slammed into the side of the monster first, leaving huge indentations. The monster was pushed sidewards, knocked off balance and smashing into the ground. The twoleg inside of it let out of yowl of shock.

Menace was standing on top of the monster, his eyes glowing as his head turned to stare at Flowertail.

She couldn't meet his gaze, chilling fear scraping down her spine as she looked away. It was clear on her expression;

She was terrified.
