Dev's POV

*Click*

After taking the picture, she looked at me and smiled. Seeing her smile, it slowly made me feel better. It's been a while since a real smile appeared in front of me. Living away from home really made me homesick in the past few years. And, believe it or not, it feels like Divya's smiles were just artificial, like the calm before the storm.

"Oh, where are my manners. I forgot to introduce myself! Hehe" she laughed confused, and it felt cute. I guess, if I wasn't deciding to die, I could've been friends with her. She seems a bright angel, and a source of happiness. She smiles so beautifully, it hurts to even imagine what if.. her smile is also fake?

"Well, what are you waiting for?" I said looking at her, and smelling my finger tips. It was my bad habit to smell for the remaining odour of the food, kindoff a weird habit if you ask.

"My name is Vanya. Vanya Singh, and you?"

I smiled suddenly. The name seemed so beautiful to be of someone exactly like her. Cheerful, kind, energetic, silly.. and a positive vibe all around her. "Devraj Bose, you can call me Dev."

"Beautiful name you have, and you can call me Vani!" She beamed happily. My lips perked up seeing her energy. It made me feel happy, like.. suddenly I forgot I was sad and about to end my life!

Vani, as she gave her name, seemed like she's North Indian unlike me, I was from West Bengal. Just due to job I was staying outside. My parents raised me to be a good person, and always guarded me from the evil people, the guys who used to play and not study. Well, those things surely helped me study well but, it failed to teach me how to read people. As a result, my first love, ruined.

It's a big lesson for me. Going into the outside world is good, it teaches you how to choose people. Not everyone is worth your trust and love.

"So where are you from, Vani?" I asked her. She leaned against her car, and looked at me. "Ever heard of GGN?"

"GGN? Is that a company? Or a government secret service?" I was confused, seemed like the name is about as same as Netaji Subhash International Airport, code name CCU.

"NO! It's Gurgaon!" She replied, and seemed to be astonished at my lack of knowledge. I honestly didn't know that Gurgaon had given it's vowels a vacation and decided to work only with two G and an N.

"I'm from Kolkata, well.. near Kolkata, not exactly." She smiled at me, and asked me a few more questions about myself.

"What are you doing in UP then, Dev?"

"I'm here for work, been here for around and year. What about you, alone here?"

"Ah, I'm with my friends. But they dropped off near the club, and I just wanted to have chaat with my own company." She laughed again, and her laugh made me smile too. She had a contagious and beautiful laughter. And, I just had noticed more features of her.

The way she smiles, seemed to be perking up her cheeks into a curve, making a small fold on the sides of her cheeks. She had a really nice nose, a big feature of her beautiful face. And.. I guess, she had a mole on her chin. Due to darkness I couldn't be sure, but it sure looked like a mole.

"So, you don't drink? Or go clubbing?" I asked her, as she started playing with her pendant. It had a moon locket on it, glistening under the night sky. It looked like the locket wasn't doing much to enhance her beauty, but the opposite. She made the locket look more beautiful, let alone with it, she made everything looks charming and energetic.

"I wanna try some day. But I don't feel the company that I want. I don't think that my friends will be a great company for me. So I don't like going with them." She sighed dreamily, looking at the sky again, as she placed her hands on both the window frames, leaning back a bit. "I wish I could go, but I don't know if my parents will allow."

"Your parents live with you too?"

"Actually, I live WITH my parents. Not my PARENTS live with ME, hahaha!!" She laughed again. And, honestly if she laughed the whole night without talking even a bit, I could just listen to it the whole night, without blinking even once.

Or maybe not? I have had habit of falling asleep when it's past one o'clock in the morning.

"Yeah, that's what I meant. Do you live with your parents?" I just smiled. She was too energetic and contagious to not give in to her laugh.

"Yes, I'm just in the college, and I wish to study harder to become what I'm best at. I love space, it's soooo AMAZING!" Her eyes shone bright under the stars. Seemed like, if someone told her jumping off would take her to the stars, she would pull me back not to save me, but to scold me why was I in front of her in the queue.

"Yeah the space, right?" I also looked up, and smiled. I did also have a back for space. But financial conditions didn't support me past the one tour to the space research centre in Kolkata.

"So Dev, what do you do?" She looked at me, turning her face. The necklace chain shining bright against her neck, and her fair skin tone even enhancing the necklace more. I tore my gaze away and blinked twice. God, what's wrong with me?

"I am an engineer, I work in a green energy company, working in the hydro power grid."

"So you generate electricity with water?"

She was definitely smart. Any other person that I know of, would have taken a longer time to guess what it meant. "Yeah, you're right" was all I managed to say.

"Ah, see I'm smart?" She grinned again at me. And I smiled awkwardly. She was cute yeah.. but she was very energized too. I thought maybe I'm not doing justice as the partner for conversation.

"So, who's in your family Dev?" She asked and I counted my fingers, "Mom, Dad, me, sis, and grandma. You?"

She pulled up her index finger and said, "Adi, my brother. That's the only person I didn't tell you about."

"What didn't you tell about Adi?"

She sighed, and I thought I was either too stupid to understand her simple explanation or.. maybe she was confused how she should introduce.

"Adi is my brother, and mom and dad are there, along with dadi" she said. And I frowned my brows opening my mouth, but she stopped me as soon as I tried.

"I know.. you're thinking I didn't tell about dadi either. But do you know why?"

I tried to read the emotions or intentions behind this question. This could be a trick question. If her dadi is dead, and she's asking, maybe she's an occult. If her dadi is not in good terms, that could be reason too.

"Dev. Don't overthink, I just forgot" she bite her lower lip to suppress her smile. But I was shocked, how can someone forget their family members?

"Well.. nice to meet you, Dev" she said and looked at the railing, from where the canal below could be seen.

"Nice to meet you too, Vani" I just said. I had no intention to lengthen our introduction than how a normal introduction period should be. But the elephant in the room just couldn't escape that easily.

"Why.. why did you try to jump, Dev?"
