I rested my back on the side of the street, on a rock. And lowered my head, placing my hands on both my knees.

"Why did I try?"

I looked at her, and she was now sitting on the backseat, the door open while she looked at me. I lowered my head again, and tried to smile. Though it was not enough to be called a smile. My gaze still on the street. I replied to her, my voice sounded foreign to me, lost.

"I got cheated on."

I heard a gasp from her, not lifting my face up. The silence followed for a few seconds, and I opened my mouth..

"I, was in a relationship, with a girl. Her name is Divya Sharma. She is the same age as mine. 22, and we were in the same college."

"Hmm, phir?" She asked, I lifted my gaze for a moment, and lowered again.

"Phir.. we met during the freshers ceremony. I was sitting with my friends, and.. she was with her friends, and.."

"You remember everything?" She asked.

I smiled looking at her, she seemed a curious soul. And I love curious people, they remind me of the me in the past. I gazed at my watch, it was almost 9:30 pm, and I continued nodding.

"Yeah.. I remember. She was sitting with, her friends Aditi and Shweta. Divya was smiling bright, and, I was glancing at her from the corner a while. But again focused on our own conversation. Later, my friend Rahul, he got up and went away with Sagar. I was alone there, while Divya came to sit beside me.."

"How does she look?" She asked, I looked at her and smiled. "Yeah, coming there, wait a bit?" I said.

"Yea, tell me" she placed her right elbow on her right knee, crossing it over her left leg. And placing her knuckes under her chin.

"So.." I continued. "She sat beside me, and smiled at me, with her she had a notebook. I also smiled back at her. And I heard Rahul calling me from the other classroom. So I got up and went, I didn't glance back, so I didn't know what Divya did or did not." I played with my fingers, while speaking. The wind was slow now, not too strong. And it was chilly a bit, I looked at her, and she just nodded her head, looking back at me. "Hmm, phir?"

I straightened my back, pushing myself straight with my fists placed on my knees and cracked my neck once. "Phir, I'll tell. I need to remember first."

"Hawww not fair! You were gonna tell me na?" She frowned and placed her legs down again, holding the knees with each fist. "Come on, you must remember it right?"

"These are the memories that cause me pain. You stopped me from suicide right? Do you still wanna know?" I raised an eyebrow and she frowned. Of course I did remember, but I wanted to see her reaction if I said I won't tell.

"But you just sat down and I also treated you to chaat right?" She questioned me, and my mouth opened a bit. Like, she was the one to offer, and now she's talking like she did me a favor.

"Uh, but you told me to come with you for chaat, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, but still.. I hoped to hear the story also" she whined and pouted. God, the pouty face looked so cute and childish.

"Ok I'll tell, but it's becoming late now. I do need to go back to the guest house." I said, and she suddenly perked up a smile.

"So, that means you aren't gonna die?" She asked happily. "I ain't immortal Vani, I surely will die." I said immediately.

"But not by a suicide, right? Right? Right??" She already was up straight on her feet, poking her index finger almost in my nose when she came closer speaking. I took a step back and sighed.

"Yeah.. at least for tonight, you kindoff ruined my mood of suicide" I sighed. My mind was easily diverted, but, still I knew if I did not die, I'll need to learn to live with it. The pain, the suffering, the haunting memories.

"You're welcome Dev." she smiled and winked at me. I looked away, and realised I was smiling now, not even feeling like dying for the moment at least.

"Eh, you're smiling??" She smiled too, and kept looking at me. She was genuinely happy but I was feeling nervous. "Yeah, I guess?" I said.

"You guess?" She frowned, "smile properly na, why are you smiling like you're forced?"

"Then how should I smile?"

"Like this!" She showed her teeth, symmetrical, nice, and shiny! Maybe she brushed her teeth at least 5 times a day.

Really man? Teeth analysis, now??

I shaked my head slowly, and my smile seemed to not go away. And she kept bugging me to smile showing my teeth. "Smile like this! Dev come on!!"

I lifted the right side of my lips, and gave her a bit of teeth, well, at least now she'll stop bugging me.

"OH! Your canines look like that of vampires!!" She exclaimed. I absentmindedly wiped the right canine with my tongue, and smiled. "Here's one too, look" I said showing her my left upper canine as well.

"Wow! Two vampire teeth!!" She exclaimed in joy, clapping her hand in her lips, and hiding a smile.

"You know, you shouldn't hide your smile too." I said to her, looking at her face. "Why hide your happiness if you look so beautiful being happy?"

I swear it was dark, but maybe.. just maybe I noticed her cheeks a bit pinking after I made that comment. It looked cute, really. With her wavy hair, and her dimples - yeah dimples, it's called that, I had forgot - she looked cute with the pink tint on her cheeks.

"U-uhmm, thanks, Dev" she smiled and looked at her feet, her hands clapped together in front of her belly.

"So, I need to go now Vani, if we meet some other day, maybe I'll tell-"

"Why some other day? I'll drop you off, come on." She said with sudden quickness, and going to the driving seat.

"Uh, but you need to g-"

"I will go later, I still need to pick up my friends, remember?" She smiled looking at me. "Get on now, hurry up!"
