THE SONG KEHLANI BY JORDAN ADETUNJI blasted loudly throughout Kayli's Range Rover as she drove down the streets of Detroit.

After being at Miracle's house for some days, she decided it was time to go back home. She knew she needed to have a conversation with Ezra, even though she didn't owe him one.

Her cheek was still slightly bruised but the marks around her neck were gone. It didn't stop her from hurting though. She questioned if she wanted to be with Ezra anymore.

Turning right into the familiar neighborhood she was accustomed too, she made her way through the semi-empty streets. Pulling into her driveway, she took a deep breath as she parked.

She struggled with the thought of getting out the car and going inside to talk to the man she loved but she didn't want another repeat of what happened. Pressing the garage opener, she hopped out the car and made her way inside; making sure to close the garage behind her.

As she walked into the house, Kayli was met with a kitchen counter full of liquor bottles and an unpleasant scent of spoiled food. What the fuck? She thought to herself.

Ignoring the site and smell, she continued her walk into the house. She knew Ezra was here since his car was parked in the garage but she couldn't find him. Since he wasn't in the kitchen or living room, she then made her way upstairs to the room they both share.

Opening the door to the room, the couple locked eyes with one another. Ezra's eyes were red and puffy; like he had been crying since she was gone. She didn't understand why he was crying when he was the one who caused pain onto her.

"Baby?" Ezra questioned like he didn't believe it was her standing there.

"It's me," She answered with hesitation in her voice.

As he got up from the bed, he moved to where she was standing. He tried to hug her but Kayli took a step back. Showcasing that she was scared of him.

"You don't gotta be scared of me, Kay." He affirmed.

"It's too late for that Ezra. If anything i'm scared of how unpredictable you're becoming." She fearfully explained.

"Unpredictable? Kayli, I had a couple drinks that night and I wasn't in my right mind. I would never put my hands on you." He said with a hint of sadness in his voice.

She didn't say anything, she just studied him as he spoke. It was hard to believe somebody who had a history of violence. He assaulted somebody at work and then her. If that didn't make him a violent man then what did?

"Yes Ezra, unpredictable." She stated before she continued, "You put your hands on me. You're suppose to protect me and clearly you're the one I need protection from."

"Baby, what can I do to fix this? We can go to counseling, I don't wanna lose you. I can't lose you." Ezra pleaded as he got down on his knees.

"You need help, Ezra." Kayli said as she choked on her words. "And I'm willing to help you." She admitted.

Seeing a glimpse of hope in his eyes, He got up from the ground and gave her a hug. Kayli knew Ezra loved her but he was a broken man who needed to heal the inner demons he was battling.

"I know we're working on us but I'm moving out. I think it's what's best right now. I don't feel safe with you and I don't wanna feel unsafe in my own home." She sniffed as she pulled away from his arms.

"Moving out? Where you gonna go?" He asked confused.

"I'm staying with Miracle for a few days then i'm gonna look for my own place." She simply stated not trying to give him too much information.
