Excuse any spelling errors!

TREVON LAID IN HIS BED as he reflected on last night's conversation he had with Kayli. He could tell she was a good woman who hadn't been placed in the proper man's hands yet.

"Listen Trevon, you seem like a nice man but i've been with my boyfriend for a long time now and I plan on staying committed to him." She explained as she looked him in his eyes.

Trevon nodded before saying, "That's understandable, i'm not telling you to step out on your man or none of that. But what i'm saying is, I can show you how a man supposed to treat you as your friend."

The conversation was getting intense as they exchanged words amongst each other. Kayli didn't understand why she was going so hard to save her relationship with a man, she wasn't even happy with. It didn't make sense but yet she was still doing it.

"Why you with him anyways? If you were happy with him then why you staying with your friend? Why you sitting in another man's car?" He asked an array of questions that seemed to catch Kayli off-guard.

"We had an incident and I left to get away from him. I didn't feel safe with him anymore." She told reflecting on the night of the fight.

"An incident? What happened?" Trevon asked curiously. He had an idea but he didn't want to guess. He would rather her tell him.

"I don't wanna talk about it. It doesn't really have anything to do with you." She began to say before stopping. It was hard enough thinking about it but she didn't wanna reflect on it any longer.

"You're right, it doesn't but if you need to talk then you can talk, ma." He announced as he rubbed her hand. She was tense and it showed in her body language. Confirming his suspicions.

Kayli looked up at Trevon and searched his eyes for a matter of seconds. She knew he was telling the truth and she knew she could trust him. Which was rare because she hadn't known him long enough.

"He came home at three in the morning, I don't know why I made such a big deal about it but I started asking him questions about his whereabouts and it must have triggered him because he asked me, Why was I questioning him?" She reminisced before continuing, "We started going back and forth, which led to us fighting. He smacked me and began to choke me out.." She let out a deep breath.

Trevon rubbed her back as she cried reflecting on what happened. He couldn't lie and say he wasn't mad. He didn't like men that put their hands on women. If it was up to him, her boyfriend would be in a body bag but it wasn't his call.

"Can I tell you something, ma?" He implied waiting on her response.

She shook her head yes as she wiped away her tears.

"No woman should be a victim to another man's hands. I can't tell you what to do with your relationship but he's not worthy of another chance." He affirmed as he watched her. In his eyes, Kayli was the full package.

"I know, I know." She whispered as she looked out the window before continuing, "I think it's because he was my very first everything. I think that's what's keeping me around. I know I deserve better."

"It'll all come together, ma. I understand it's a bond there but just getting to know you as a person, I can tell you that you deserve so much better." He mentioned.

"Thank you Trevon." She said as she was appreciative of him being a safe space for her.

Hearing his phone ring broke him from his inner thoughts. He looked at the screen that read his mother's contact name. Wasting no time, he answered the phone.
