The next morning, the sun streamed gently through the window of Kayli's hospital room, casting a soft glow over the small bassinet where baby Saylor slept peacefully.

Kayli, still feeling the remains of exhaustion but far more stable than the day before, sat up in bed. She looked at Saylor, her heart swelling with a sense of overwhelming love.

The thought of finally being able to take their little girl home filled her with a sense of joy she hadn't experienced in days.

Trevon, who had barely left Kayli's side, was already up and moving about, gathering their things for the discharge. His energy was calm but focused, making sure everything was ready for their first day as a family at home. He glanced at Kayli, offering a soft smile that made her heart flutter.

"You ready to take our girl home?" he asked, coming over to the side of the bed and placing a kiss on her forehead.

Kayli nodded, her smile weak but genuine. "More than ready," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "I've been dreaming about this moment."

Trevon chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "It's finally here, baby."

A nurse entered the room a few minutes later, holding a stack of paperwork for Kayli to sign. "Good morning, Mama," she greeted with a bright smile. "How are we feeling today?"

"I'm feeling much better," Kayli said, though she was still a little sore and weak. She glanced at Saylor in the bassinet, her heart swelling with a mother's love.

The nurse nodded approvingly. "Great to hear. Now, I've got all your discharge paperwork ready to go. Once you sign these, we'll get you and little Miss Saylor on your way home."

Kayli filled out the forms slowly, her hand trembling slightly from the residual weakness, but Trevon stayed by her side, making sure everything was in order.

Once all the paperwork was done, the nurse gave them final instructions about postpartum care, what to watch out for in case Kayli's symptoms worsened, and how to keep Saylor safe during the first few days at home.

"Remember, Kayli, take it easy when you get home," the nurse reminded her with a kind but serious tone. "You're still healing, and your body needs time to recover. Don't hesitate to reach out if you feel off or if anything doesn't seem right."

Kayli nodded, absorbing the advice. She knew she had a long road of recovery ahead of her, but she was determined to rest and heal so she could be the best mom possible to Saylor.

Trevon, meanwhile, was listening intently, making sure he remembered everything the nurse said. His protective instincts were in full gear, and he wasn't going to take any chances with Kayli or Saylor's health. "Don't worry," he said firmly. "I'll make sure she takes it easy. We got this."

After the final checks, the nurse wheeled in a small cart with a car seat attached. Trevon carefully lifted Saylor from her bassinet and placed her into the seat, his movements slow and deliberate. He paused for a moment, looking down at their tiny daughter, still in awe that this little human belonged to them.

"Ready for your first ride, princess?" he whispered, adjusting the straps gently. Saylor stirred slightly but remained peaceful, her tiny features looking serene as she nestled into the car seat.

Kayli watched Trevon's every movement, her heart swelling with gratitude. Even though she was still tired and weak, seeing him step up and take care of their little girl filled her with so much pride.

Once Saylor was strapped in, the nurse wheeled the cart to the door, and Trevon grabbed the bags they had packed days before, when they had rushed to the hospital. It all felt so surreal now, like time had flown by in a blur of emotions and pain, but here they were—finally going home.
