The next morning, Trevon woke up with a lingering sense of concern for Kayli. Despite the excitement of his successful performance the night before, he was upset when he found out what happened between Kayli and her boyfriend.
"Trevon, we need to talk to you," Skylar said, her voice urgent.
"What's going on?" Trevon asked, feeling a knot form in his stomach.
"It's about Kayli," Miracle said, glancing at Skylar before continuing. "After your performance, she and her boyfriend had a huge argument. It was really bad."
Skylar nodded in agreement. "We were backstage and heard everything. He was yelling at her, saying things that were just... awful. She was trying to calm him down, but he wouldn't listen. Eventually, she just... left."
"Left?" Trevon repeated, his concern growing. "Where did she go?"
"We don't know," Miracle said, shaking her head. "She just grabbed her stuff and took off. She looked really upset."
Trevon felt a pang of worry. "Did she say anything about where she might be going?"
Skylar sighed. "No, she didn't. We tried to call her, but she's not picking up."
With a deep breath, Trevon picked up his phone and dialed Kayli's number. After a few rings, it went to voicemail. He furrowed his brow in worry but left a gentle message.
"I heard about last night. I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing after everything that happened. Give me a call back when you can, okay?"
Trevon hoped his message conveyed his genuine concern without overwhelming her. He knew that Kayli needed space to process everything that had happened, but he also wanted to be there for her if she needed someone to talk to.
Throughout the day, Trevon found himself glancing at his phone, hoping for a reply that didn't come. He focused on his music, using it as a distraction while he waited for any sign from Kayli.
As the hours passed, Trevon couldn't shake the feeling of unease. He trusted that Kayli would reach out when she was ready, but the silence weighed heavily on him. He wondered if he should try calling again or if he should give her more time.
Eventually, Trevon decided to send a brief text message, keeping it simple and respectful:
He pressed send and waited anxiously for a response, hoping that Kayli would reach out soon so they could talk and hopefully find some comfort and clarity together.
As the day wore on, Trevon tried to keep himself occupied with music production tasks, but his thoughts kept drifting back to Kayli. He couldn't shake the worry that lingered in his mind after the events of the previous night. Each passing hour without a response from her only deepened his concern.
