Becky woke up and got up to check in on Laila. She had been checking in on her every night and morning since the incident with the men happened. She looked into her room and noticed she was still asleep in her own bed. Becky figured she must still be affected by the situation since she had been more quiet and reserved and stopped going out at night. Laila always tried to put up a strong front and act like an adult although Becky knew better than that. She closed her door and headed downstairs to make some coffee. As she was preparing her cup she decided to turn on the tv and watch the news. Her mother came in shortly after and greeted her. "Good morning hun." Becky smiled and greeted her back. "Morning mom."

"Did you sleep well last night? I heard your father up late last night heading upstairs." Becky nodded and shrugged. "Pretty well. Yea he just wanted to make sure Laila was home I guess." She tried to water down the situation for her mother knowing she was too aloof to notice the way their father controlled them. "Did she go out again last night?" She asked with a concerned look. Becky shook her head no and sipped her coffee. She was not about to tell her the situation Laila had gotten into knowing her father would never let them step foot outside again. Her mother smiled and pored herself a cup of coffee. "So, have you given it any thought into applying down at the police station? It's not too far and I think your father has a friend who works there. Maybe he can help you out?"

Becky mulled it over for a second and nodded. "I'll check it out today." She definitely needed a job soon to keep herself busy and save up to move out on her own. Her mom nodded smiling and patted her hand. "Do you want pancakes?" Becky nodded and smiled as she took another sip of her drink.

"Breaking News!! Channel 6 exclusive!
We are reporting live at the scene of a horrendous crime where police were tipped off last night to the death of a 45 year old man near Bridgestone Forest. Police are speculating it was a murder but have not released the identity of the individual or the cause of death. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as information comes in. Reporting live, Barbara Hutchins."

Becky looked over at her mom who shared the same look of concern. "Oh my! That's strange, this is one of the safest towns around. I wonder what happened?" Becky looked at the tv showing aerial footage of the crime scene and cringed thinking of the sudden violence happening around them. "Y'all girls make sure to stay save when you go out." Her mom said shaking her head and pouring flour into a bowl. Becky couldn't help but feel uneasy and interested in the sudden situation. She was a fan of murder mysteries but felt uneasy at the fact that it was only a 10 minute drive from her house. She made a mental note to advise Laila to be careful. She ate her pancakes and headed upstairs to wake Laila up.

[ Knock, Knock ]

She opened the door to find Laila on her bed tying her sneakers on and looking at her with an annoyed face.

"Hey sleepy head, you're up!" Laila nodded as she stood up looking for her cellphone and keys

"Hey sleepy head, you're up!" Laila nodded as she stood up looking for her cellphone and keys. "Are you coming down for breakfast? Mom made pancakes!" She started heading towards the door making Becky move out of the way. "Can't. Have plans." Becky looked disappointed and questioned further. "With who? Don't tell me it's the same "friends" who ditched you that night." Becky followed her down the stairs and into the living room. "Maybe." She continued to walk towards the door until they were both outside. "Wait." Becky grabbed her shoulder turning her to face her. Laila sighed and looked at her in annoyance. "What?!"
