"Where'd you two go?" Yoko asked as Nam and Faye entered the room. Heng and her were playing video games in the living room of Nam and Heng's house. "We had to pay Freen a visit." Yoko paused the game and threw Faye a pouty look. "That was the important business I couldn't join you in? You all probably just wanted to hang out without us." She crossed her arms and sulked. Faye approached her and gently caressed her head. "No baby that's not true. She actually kicked us out." Heng laughed and shook his head unpausing the game. "Hey!" Yoko complained as she picked up the remote again and focused on winning the game. "Typical Freen." Heng murmured. Nam shot him an annoyed look and shook her head. "She has never kicked me out before. She actually had company with her." Yoko immediately focused on Nam and looked at her with interested eyes. "Who?" Nam and Faye shared a look. "The human girl she likes." Yoko squealed in excitement at the news. "Do you think they kissed?" She asked in a giddy voice. "Oh, they definitely did more than just kiss."
Heng and Yoko dropped the controller and turned to look at Faye in disbelief. "How do you know?" Heng asked curiously. "Well, she was wearing nothing more than one of Freen's robes when she came downstairs and Freen reeked of human hormones." Yoko looked at her with mouth agape. "Wow! I never thought Freen would ever be into anyone, much less a human. Isn't this good news?" Yoko asked optimistically. Nam, Heng and Faye shared an unsure look. "Not necessarily. Although it's good she has the ability to like someone, it could become very dangerous being that she is a human." Nam explained. Yoko looked between them in confusion. "But why?" Faye sighed and caressed Yoko's head. "Vampires are very different from humans babe. Although we may appear the same on the outside, our biology, mentality and emotions are different. Physically we surpass their strength, speed and physical abilities including their 5 senses. Mentally we are able to process things more clearly and effectively as our decisions are not tied to emotions. We feel less and love in a more platonic manner. Humans think with their emotions and make decisions that way, which can sometimes lead them to their own death. If a vampire gets involved with a human that could cloud the vampire's judgement and lead them to make irrational decisions. Not to mention possibly also outing themselves as a vampire. You can only hide your supernatural abilities for so long, especially if your physical body doesn't age."
Yoko nodded trying to rationalize the situation. "Can't she just turn her into a vampire?" Yoko asked but Nam shook her head. "It doesn't work that way. We can't just go around turning people into vampires. It's not an easy or pretty process. Do you remember your first years as a new vampire?" Yoko cringed at the thought. "Barely, everything was so foggy. All I remember was the fear and thirst that overcame me. All the new abilities and supernatural senses were so overwhelming. It felt like I died and was reborn into a different world." Faye gently comforted her as she recollected her memories. "And you were lucky because you had Faye and us to train you, which definitely helped. Besides she has a family which she would eventually have to give up after some years before they noticed she was not aging." Yoko nodded trying to remember her past. "Maybe we are overthinking things. We don't know if they will even end up together, this could just be a quick fling." Heng said but Nam shot him a look. "Really Heng? When have you ever seen Freen have a fling with anyone. As a matter a fact, when have you seen Freen even glance in interest at anyone or spend more than a few minutes with them." Heng thought and dropped his head. "Never in the hundreds of years I've known her." Nam sighed. "Exactly. This may be a fling for the human, but it certainly is not for Freen. Besides, she got jealous with Faye and physically kicked her out. I can't imagine what she will do if someone shows interest in the girl out there." They all looked at each other concerned except Yoko who was glaring at Faye. "I didn't flirt I promise." She immediately spat out as she saw Yoko's sulking face.
"Focus guys. We have to tell Heidi and Saint before she leaves out of town with the girl. Especially if this vampire is still out there and has a vendetta on them." They all nodded and looked around nervously. "Freen is going to hate us." Heng said baring his teeth. "Here goes nothing." Nam dialed the number for Heidi's phone."
