Chapter 13

"Aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!"

Becky felt the felt her body being pulled up into a tight embrace, fingers clasping her throat. She tried to scream but her breath was labored as her oxygen was being cut off. She felt the heat of hot breath coming from behind her as the unknown being rubbed their nose against her ear. "You smell delicious." The low raspy voice said as it clenched her body tighter against itself. Tears ran down her cheeks as she struggled against the immovable being holding her captive. "All I need is a bite of this delicious neck, but what fun would that be if we don't have a little fun before hand." Becky was breathing hard against him feeling the darkness slowly closing in. "Tonight, you are all mine..." Darkness overtook her and she fell limp against the strong body behind her. He smiled a sinister smile as he eyed his next victim.

"Freen! Freen!"

Freen emerged from her study and in a flash was downstairs. She looked concerned at Faye who stood at the entrance of her front door looking frantic. "What's the matter?" Faye approached her with a serious look making Freen aware something serious might have happened. "Meeting at Saints place now!" Freen furrowed her eyebrows and they rushed out. They arrived quickly at Freen's place where the rest of the squad sat in the living room. "What's going on? I thought the hunt was not until 12am?" The group interchanged looks and Nam stepped up. "Change of plans, you should talk to Saint. He's upstairs in the guest room." Freen was about to leave but Nam held her arm. "Freen... knock first." Freen looked around at the room of concerned faces and made her way upstairs. She approached the room where she could hear some whispering from inside. She stopped to listen but decided to knock instead after not being able to fully make out all the conversations.

[ Knock, Knock ]

The conversation stopped and the door creaked open. Heidi appeared and smiled tenderly at Freen. "Hey honey, give him a minute. He'll be out soon." Freen nodded and leaned against the wall awaiting for Saint to see her. "Thank you Doctor." Saint said as out walked a petite blond holding a medical bag. She turned to smile and placed her hand on his shoulder. "No problem Saint. And please call me Beer. We've known each other for years, I think friends are on first name basis don't you think?" She smiled teasingly as he nodded smiling at her. "I'll keep you updated." They waved goodbye as she made her way down the hallway and down the stairs. "Freen. Perfect you're here." He said acknowledging her presence as she approached him.

"What's going on?" She asked with a serious expression. He put his hands on his hips as he sighed. "Looks like you were right. The vampire has returned and he got a hold of someone." Freen's face dropped as a flurry of thoughts filled her head. "What?! Who?! What happened?! Where is he?!" She asked stepping closer to Saint with a frantic expression. Saint placed his hands on in Freen's shoulder and looked at her for a moment as he tried to read her. He was wondering why Freen had reacted so passionately being that she normally was very levelheaded and reserved to any emotions. "Calm down. We ran him off before he could do any damage to her." Freen grabbed Saint by the shoulders and frantically asked. "Where is she?!" Saint looked concerned at her but relented and offered her information. "She's resting in there..." he motioned for the guest room behind him as Freen had already pushed by him making her way inside.

Heidi was sitting on the bed placing a warm towel on the young girl forehead as she lay on the bed. She looked over at Freen as she made her way closer, hesitant to confirm her fears. As Heidi stood up, a pale Becky lay peacefully asleep. Freen felt a strong and foreign sensation in her chest as she looked at Becky helplessly lying there. She looked so weak and innocent it almost hurt Freen to look at her. "Wh-what happened?" Freen whispered in a husky voice clearing her throat at the sound of her own voice. Saint stepped in and crossed his arms looking between Freen and Heidi. She gave him a knowing look and nodded for him to proceed. "Heidi and I were running watch duty rounds around the area when we heard a scream. We were far away but followed Heidi's sense as she felt someone was in pain. We came up on the girl being held by a male vampire who looked like he was about to have his way with her. We were able to stop him in time but he got away. We called the rest of the squad and had them do rounds and run him out of the city. We brought her here to get checked out and have her rest. I had Heng drive her car to our garage for the meantime until she wakes up."
