"There you are! I thought you weren't coming?" Nam said as Freen approached her. She gave her a displeased look and shrugged. "I didn't have a choice." Nam looked at her suspiciously and nodded. "Yeah, you've been preoccupied lately..." Freen shot her a warning look as Nam presented her palms out in a sign of surrender. "My bad..." she gave her a sheepish smile as they walked. "Where are Yoko and Heidi?" Something suddenly jumped on Freen's back putting her in a chokehold. Freen grabbed the arm around her neck struggling slightly but quickly pulled the person over her onto the air. They flipped mid air, landing in a stylish squat pose facing her as they smiled. "Yoko!" Heidi reprimanded. "Yoko smiled brightly at all three of them as they approached her. She stood up proudly and waved at Freen. "Hey Freen!" Freen looked at her in disbelief as Nam snickered and shook her head. Heidi crossed her arms shaking her head in worry. "She could've really hurt you, you know?" Heidi said as Yoko shrugged. "It was just a playful joke." She said kicking the leaves at her feet. "She's just a kid, give her a break." Nam said in her defense.
Freen sighed and relaxed. "You're lucky I didn't break you kid." Freen said in a serious tone but ruffled Yoko's hair in a playful manner. "We've all been on edge these days." Heidi said a little worried. She smiled at Freen who looked at her worried and went in for a hug. "We're going to be fine." She whispered as she hugged Freen in reassurance. Freen tried to believe it but something in her gut was telling her something was up. Freen let go and was about to pull away but Heidi remained hugging her. She stayed for a moment like this as if she was reading her and suddenly pulled away looking into Freen's eyes. They made eye contact for a moment trying to read each other as Freen watched Heidi's face turn from a smile to a confused look on her face. "What are you two doing? We don't have all night and I'm starving." Nam yelled as she trekked forward followed by Yoko who occasionally stopped to inspect an insect or play with a flower. "Yeah what gives? I'm hungry too." Yoko said squatting at the base of a tree and playing with a small garden snake that slowly wrapped itself on her fingers.
"Let's get going then." Heidi said smiling and squeezing Freen's arms before she walked away. Freen couldn't help but feel like Heidi knew something but kept it to herself in that moment. She cautiously walked behind them passing Yoko as she cringed at the slithering snake in her hands. "Yoko! Put it down and let's go!" Nam yelled from in front. "Okay." She sadly said placing the snake back on the tree as she pouted and ran behind them catching up to Heidi. "So where are we going?" Freen said loudly enough so Nam could hear. "There's a waterfall not too far where the deer come to drink, we'll go there. Last one there has to do night shift with the boys tomorrow night!" Nam rushed away as the other three rushed behind her. Her super speed was faster than all of theirs and she taunted them by running circles around them. "That's not fair!" Yoko yelled as they approached the top of the waterfall. Freen was second behind Nam fallowed by Yoko leaving Heidi behind.
"Oww!" Heidi yelped as she stopped which caught Freen's attention making her stop as well. "Heidi are you okay?" Freen asked as she quickly approached her. Heidi grabbed her foot and squinted in pain. "Let me see." Freen said with a worried expression as she kneeled to look."Where is it?" Freen asked examining her foot. "Right here!" Heidi yelled making an ok sign with her hand (👌) and running away. She reached the top of the waterfall where Yoko and Nam where watching and laughing at Freen. Freen made it up and placed her hands on her hips with an annoyed face. "Not funny." She said in a monotone voice as she rolled her eyes while the three girls laughed at her. "Oh my gosh, I can't believe you fell for that." Freen threw Nam a side eye. "Yea sis, we're freaking vamps. We don't hurt easily." Yoko mocked. Freen shook her head and walked off. "Have you ever heard about the boy who cried wolf?" She yelled back at them. Heidi jogged up to her still laughing. "I'm sorry Freen, I just can't do another night with the guys. I need a break from all the horseplay and all the brain cells I lost listening to their mindless arguments over who came first the chicken or the egg." Freen rolled her eyes and smiled. "Obviously the egg." Yoko chimed in as she took a seat on the rock overlooking the waterfall. "What?! No way! It was obviously the chicken." Nam argued sitting next to her. "Oh boy, here we go..." Heidi said taking a seat as well and rubbing her temples. Freen smiled and took a seat next to her. They sat in silence watching for any deer as Nam and Yoko quietly argued about the chiken or the egg theory.
Freen took in a deep breath and smiled as she took in the beautiful scenery.
