He was alone.

Blinking in confusion, he stood, surveying the ever-growing darkness surrounding him. It felt ominous....looked eerie...but none of that really mattered to him.

For there was a dog.

A dog with fluffy, brown fur. A pair of puffy ears that flopped over its face almost comically, and a tail that was short and stubby, but fluffy nonetheless. It had a white-furred stomach, and when he looked on, a beautiful set of baby blue eyes. Eyes that aren't commonly seen on dogs. All being said, the dog looked like an angel.

An angel that he really wanted to pet.

He took a step forward, then another, and another. His arm outstretched as he continued to advance toward the angel-like dog, his heart beating faster and faster. It was so close....if he just reached a big more...

A sudden flash caught his eye, and he paused. The dog tilted its head, staring up at him innocently. At this motion, something seemed to unlatch itself, and a piece of ribbon fell to the ground. In curiosity, he crouched, grabbing a hold of the ribbon.

In the darkness, it seemed almost a green color. But when he knelt further to examine the ribbon, it caught a light, and for a moment blinded the poor guy.

When his vision returned, he was left staring at a furry face staring right back at him.

The dog had come closer, its head still tilted in that innocent manner. Eager that the dog had come to him itself, he reached and began to pet the dog, feeling its soft fur. Forgetting everything for a moment.

Forgetting about that ribbon that he had picked up earlier.

That 'green' ribbon.

After what seemed like hours, the dog pulled away, barking. It began to lead the smitten boy through the darkness, almost like a beam of light. Just like an angel would. It kept glancing back at him every once in a while, its tongue out in such a cute way, he couldn't help but just fall in love with the animal even more.

Suddenly, something else caught his eye, and he looked up.

Five figures. Figures that looked so...familiar.

His eyes lit up excitedly, and he called their names, his voice echoing through the dark abyss.

But they didn't respond.

For a moment, he thought they just hadn't heard him, and he tried again. But when they didn't respond for the fifth time, he knew that something was terribly wrong.

Speaking of wrong, where did the dog go?

He glanced around, but everywhere he looked, it was just darkness. Nothing. Only him. Alone. Like earlier.

All of a sudden, a harsh voice cut through the eerie silence, and he turned around. His eyes widened, noting that the insult had come from one of the figures. Or his friend...but...friends wouldn't say such a horrid thing-

Then just as suddenly, the next friend began reprimanding him, his voice just as harsh as the last. They were almost yelling at him.

He took a step back, trying to get away from them. From this all. But their voices came right at him, pressing in on him on all sides. Constricting his air. Squeezing him. Breaking him.

He gasped, stumbling as he fought to run away.

Something was pulling on his leg.

He glanced down, his heart almost stopping at the realization that the dog was pulling him back. Pulling him toward the five figures that were yelling and screaming at him. Calling him weak. Calling him useless.

Something cool wrapped around his arms, and no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't break free of the lengths and lengths of ribbon that were squeezing him tight. Unable to move, the dog was able to drag him easily toward the waiting darkness that surrounded his friends.

Perhaps that was hate.

Hate at him.

What did he even do...?

He choked, his vision beginning to blur at the edges. Streams and streams of tears began to flow down his cheeks as he fought against the binds of ribbon that squeezed him tight.

The last thing he saw before the darkness fully enveloped him was those huge, angelic blue eyes and that flash again. That flash of color.

That flash of pink.
