Chapter 1
━━━━━━━━ ✥ ━━━━━━━━THE FIRST TIME ADHARA BLACK LAID EYES ON WALBURGA BLACK'S PORTRAIT, SHE SMIRKED. Her trusty satchel hung loosely at her side. Adhara pushed it behind her to comfortably cross her arms as she leaned in closer to the portrait.
Walburga Black's image took a step back, eyes full of scorn and lips downturned in disgust.
Adhara's eyes brightened at the reaction. "You must be my gran."
Even without Walburga Black's eyes switching between Adhara and whoever was behind her, Adhara could physically feel her uncle's presence drawing near, which made her want to roll her eyes — what's the worst a fucking painting could do? — but she didn't. Her eyes remained trained on her grandmother's very interesting reaction.
"Why do you look so surprised?," continued to badger Adhara. "I've been told I look an awful like my father. You should be able to guess, shouldn't you, grand-mère?"
The woman turned fully to her son, ignoring Adhara. "Sirius, don't tell me you—"
"Not me," Adhara could practically hear the smile in her uncle's voice, "Regulus."
Adhara scoffed. The confirmation was useless. Walburga Black knew. The house knew. Adhara felt her magic settle in the minute she stepped foot inside.
"That's right. Your youngest went and fucked a muggle." From somewhere beside her, Adhara heard a clatter and then a laugh that sounded awfully like Harry. Last time she checked, Remus and he were at the doorway, resizing their trunks.
"Not so perfect after all, was he?" Adhara had read Regulus' letters. Not just once or twice, but enough times to know each word by heart. She has also read his diary. And if there was one word Adhara would use to describe her grandmother, it would definitely be bitch.
"You don't look too happy. You should be glad, no? Brought in a new pool of genes, I did. It would do good to this insane lot, don't you think?"
This time, the laugh came from Remus.
Walburga Black was seething. Adhara Black just might enjoy her stay at Grimmauld Place.

"KREACHER!" shouted the portrait. "GET THIS MUDBLOOD BASTA—"
Harry watched Sirius magic the curtains over the painting to draw close, muffling out the screams. Adhara turned around with a bored look, pointedly looking at her uncle.
Sirius simply smiled before pocketing his wand. "Right. We'll be better off with her quiet, won't we?"
Right then, a hunch-backed elf appeared in the corridor, his irate gaze upon Sirius.
"Master Sirius has returned and with him he brings his blood-traitor friends, sullying—" the elf's eyes skimmed over the other three, until they landed on Adhara which made him do a double-take.
He watched her suspiciously. Adhara didn't look very interested in the elf, but he was glaring at her, so she matched his energy.
"You must be Kreacher."
"Kreacher serves the Ancient House of Black."
"You do? You were the one who took care of this house all these years?"
Kreacher stayed silent.
Harry looked around the house. Dust littered every surface, from the greying carpets to the dusty cobwebs on the ceiling. All Harry could think of at that moment was that Aunt Petunia would be appalled at the sight, and Harry was annoyed to admit that he was too.
