Chapter 26
━━━━━━━━ ✥ ━━━━━━━━ADHARA STALKED DOWN TO THE COURTYARD WITH ASTORIA. It was a fairly nice day, and there were many people outside. The twins were there, and they grinned when they saw Adhara approach.
"Ah, well if isn't out favourite Slytherin—"
He didn't get the time to finish as Adhara used the same spell on him as she did on Malfoy.
"Levicorpus!"
The boy hung high, higher as Adhara pointed her wand more upwards, dangling by his feet.
"Oi!" exclaimed the other twin, his grin gone. But before he could react, Astoria quickly disarmed him, jinxing him in the process.
"Brachiabindo!"
The boy fell on his arse, bound by invisible cords. Adhara addressed Astoria, eyes still on the boy hanging in the air upside down. His face was turning purple.
The other one, on the ground, was struggling with his restraints.
"What do you think we should do to them, Astoria?"
The girl pretended to think, finger on her chin. "Perhaps the same? Shove them into a vanishing cabinet, and see how long it takes for them to escape?"
At that, the one on the ground froze. He looked up at the girls with a glare.
"Is that what this is about? He fucking deserved it!"
Adhara looked unimpressed. Astoria was the one who replied. "Right, because potential death was the appropriate retaliation for losing points."
The boy froze. "What are you on about?"
They had gathered a crowd. Adhara was certain Harry and Hermione had followed her into the courtyard. She was sure that Ron was here too, and her suspicions were confirmed when she heard his shouts.
"What the fuck are you doing, Adhara?" He tried to approach her, but someone held him back. When Adhara checked, she saw Bletchley grabbing the redhead.
He gave her a nod. Adhara heard the twin on the ground — she honestly has no clue which one was which — scoff.
"Some friend you are. Should've known you'd end up siding with your lot in the end."
Adhara wanted to scream. She wanted to laugh. It always came down to that, didn't it? She dropped her disinterested facade, cutting the space between her and the boy. She stepped on his wand on the way, breaking it.
"Is that what you taunt first years with, when they come to Hogwarts? Eleven-year-olds, away from their family for the first time and their first interaction with the school is to get booed for belonging to a House. Do you even know when they're pureblood and when they're muggleborn? Or do you simply choose to forget that fact when it benefits you?"
The crowd had gone quiet. Even Ron had shut up.
"It's no wonder Slytherin's hate everyone else. We're never given a chance."
The boy in the air was gagging for air at this point. Adhara released him, letting him fall on the ground. The other one scooted closer to him, checking on him as much as he could.
"I disagree, Astoria. Perhaps we should drag them to the forest. Let the beasts have them."
Astoria tsked. "That'd be too quick, no? I want to see them suffer longer. Like they had intended with Montague."
The twin who was coughing, glared at her. "It was a vanishing cabinet! What's the worst that could have happened? They would've found them after a few weeks!"
