Chapter 2
━━━━━━━━ ✥ ━━━━━━━━

DURING THE SECOND WEEK OF JULY, A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE WEASLEYS WERE SUPPOSED TO COME — HARRY HAS IT MARKED ON HIS CALENDAR — SIRIUS' COUSIN, ANDROMEDA TONKS SHOWED UP.

Adhara looked at Harry, a clear question in her eyes, which he only responded with a shrug. Truth was though, Harry had an inclination in why she was here, he was more so confused as to why it was her and not the Weasleys, like it had been last summer.

Once a month, during the entirety of summer, Harry spent a night at the Weasleys. He had asked why once to Sirius, and had gotten his answer back in the form of a new scar on Remus' face (apparently the wolf was too distressed that night and even wolfsbane wasn't enough to fully calm him down).

Harry didn't have the time to wonder why they weren't simply going to the Burrow tonight. Sirius (Remus was asleep) called them down for tea, and Harry wobbled after Adhara — another nightmare, another sleepless night.

Andromeda Tonks sat at the dining table, a gentle smile on her lips and a cuppa in hand.

Adhara squared her shoulders, brows furrowed. She didn't know yet why the woman was here. Harry had his doubts, but the question must have been obvious because Sirius answered without him asking.

"You can't leave Grimmauld, Harry. It isn't safe. And the Weasleys can't come before the weekend."

Ah. Of course.

Harry looked back at the woman, arms crossed. He reckoned they looked quite intimidating, Adhara and he. He knew of the rumours that circulated around the school about Adhara, how she looked mean and scary (though Harry didn't see it). Harry wasn't sure if he looked it too, but if he was able to summon even a quarter of Adhara's expression, then he supposed that would be enough.

Andromeda Tonks looked unfazed.

"We will be fine by ourselves," Adhara echoed Harry's thoughts exactly. "The House will protect us."

Over the past week or so, Adhara grew quite attached to the House, and it to her. It wasn't as strange as Harry thought it would be. The House listened to them, protected them, almost like Hogwarts castle did to its students.

Sirius smiled. "The House listens to your whims. I need someone to feed you and keep an eye on you both. We don't want a repeat of last week."

Harry almost whined then. Last week was not their fault. It was not their fault that the top floor of the house had a magic carpet. They simply wanted to try it out. See if it was faster than a broom. There were wards protecting them, anyway.

"Kreacher, then."

"Same difference."

Adhara glared. Harry peaked at the woman sitting at their table and saw that she was smirking. She caught his eye and winked. Harry looked away, ears hot.

"Don't you worry about them, Siri. I can handle them. I've got backup, just in case."

Adhara arched a brow. "Backup?"

Andromeda Tonks took a long sip of her tea before answering. "My daughter."

When Nymphadora Tonks — Just Tonks! — flooed in an hour later, Harry and Adhara recognized her instantly. Adhara grumbled under her breath, and ran to her room, with Harry following right behind.
